12 years in aesthetics and, if anything, I probably do less now than I did at the beginning.
Not because I believe in treatments any less, but because I understand much more about when, where and why to use them.
Iām less interested in chasing trends.
Less interested in treating something simply because we can.
And much more interested in skin quality, collagen stimulation, regeneration and preserving what makes someone look like themselves.
Filler still has its place. So do lots of the treatments Iāve used for years. But sometimes the best treatment plan involves saying no, doing less, or thinking longer term.
Experience hasnāt made me want to do more.
Itās made me much more selective about what I do.
Preserve. Stimulate. Restore. And know when to stop š¤
Your skin cells need energy too šā”ļø
This little device is the ageLOC Boost, and itās one of the most underrated pieces of skincare tech in my routine.
It uses variable-pulse microcurrent technology alongside the Activating Serum, delivering gentle electrical stimulation to the skin during a quick 2-minute treatment.
And what does ageLOC actually mean?
ageLOC isnāt one ingredient, itās a proprietary blend which targets some of the biological processes associated with visible ageing, rather than simply focusing on whatās happening at the surface of the skin.
As we age, cellular function, communication and renewal can become less efficient, all of which can influence how our skin looks and behaves.
The Boost is designed to improve the appearance of brightness, smoothness and radiance, and is one of the best tools we have for treating hyperpigmentation.
Nobody really warns you that perimenopause can show up in your skin too.
Maybe your usual routine suddenly feels too much. Your skin is drier, more reactive, less plump, or youāre noticing changes that seem to have appeared almost overnight.
It doesnāt necessarily mean you need MORE skincare or more aggressive treatments.
Often, it means reassessing what your skin needs now.
Think barrier support, hydration, sensible actives, collagen stimulation where appropriate, and looking at the bigger picture too: hormones, nutrition, sleep and lifestyle.
The skincare routine that worked brilliantly at 30 might not be the one your skin needs at 40.
Your skin is changing. Your approach can change with it.
And unfortunately, everyone else probably is still irritating š
Not all collagen supplements are created equal š
And as someone who was pretty sceptical about supplements myself, I wanted to understand exactly what I was taking and why.
Beauty Focus Collagen+ isnāt simply about adding more collagen.
𧬠VERISOL® Bioactive Collagen Peptides provide specific peptides that can signal fibroblasts to support our own production of collagen AND elastin.
⨠Lutein provides antioxidant support, helping protect against oxidative stress while supporting skin radiance.
š§ Phytoceramides support hydration and healthy skin barrier function.
And importantly, the finished formulation itself has been clinically studied, rather than relying solely on evidence around the individual ingredients.
So yes, I understand the collagen debate.
But the formulation, the mechanism and the evidence matter.
When I started Anew in 2014, I knew the kind of aesthetic medicine I wanted to practise. What I didnāt know was quite how much the business, and I, would evolve over the next 12 years.
My experiences as a doctor, as a business owner, and particularly caring for Mum through six and a half years of stage 4 cancer changed the way I thought about health.
It made me look beyond what we can treat and start asking more about what we can influence.
And that has shaped the clinic today.
A 360° approach that brings together aesthetics, skin health, regeneration, nutrition, lifestyle and longevity. Not simply helping you look better, but helping you age better, inside and out.
The treatments and technology have changed enormously since 2014.
The ethos hasnāt.
People first. Ethics always. And never being afraid to evolve when I believe thereās a better way.
12 years of Anew š¤
And I feel like weāre only just getting started.
12 years ago, I started a business.
I knew how to be a doctor.
I knew I loved aesthetics.
I had absolutely no idea how much I was about to learn about business, peopleā¦or myself.
If I could sit down with the girl in that first photo, Iād probably tell her:
You donāt have to say yes to every opportunity.
Being busy and being successful arenāt always the same thing.
Some people will be part of your business for a season, not forever.
Your reputation will always be worth more than a quick sale.
Saying ānoā to a treatment can be just as important as knowing how to perform one.
Youāll make mistakes. Youāll change direction. Youāll outgrow things you once thought you wanted.
There will be times you genuinely wonder whether you want to carry on.
And your business will evolve as you do.
But the biggest thing?
Keep going.
Because 12 years later, youāll still care just as much about the person sitting in front of you as you did when you started.
Youāll just have a lot more experience, a few more grey hairs, and a much better understanding of what kind of doctor, business owner and person you want to be.

Happy 12th birthday, Anew.

Almost 9 years ago, she travelled from Malta to attend a lip filler masterclass I was teaching Derma Medical
This week, she travelled back to see me, this time as my patient. š¤
āYouāre the only person Iād trust with my face.ā
Already absolutely beautiful, this was never about changing her face. It was about a few carefully considered tweaks to restore balance and support what was already there.
We used just 2.55ml of dermal filler across the face to:
⨠Replace some lost mid-face volume
⨠Add support through the pre-jowl area
⨠Improve lip asymmetry while keeping her lips looking completely natural
Small amounts. Multiple areas. One considered treatment plan.
And a very happy client at the end of it. š„°
For me, this is what good aesthetics is about. Not chasing trends or huge transformation, but knowing where a little product can make the biggest difference.
And having someone I taught almost nine years ago trust me enough to travel from Malta for her own treatment? That means a lot. š¤

One session. Subtle changes. And weāre just getting started š
This before & after is following just one Sculptra treatment.
Unlike dermal filler, Sculptra isnāt designed to simply āfillā an area. It works by stimulating your own skin to produce more collagen, gradually improving structure, firmness and support from within.
That means results develop progressively over the weeks and months following treatment, rather than appearing overnight.
⨠Stimulates collagen production
⨠Helps restore support and structure
⨠Can improve skin firmness and quality
⨠Results develop gradually for a natural-looking change
⨠Effects can last around 2 years for many patients
For most clients, I recommend a course of 2ā3 sessions, usually around 4-6 weeks apart, depending on age, skin quality, degree of volume loss and treatment goals.
This is after session ONE, at 4 weeks, so thereās still more collagen remodelling to come.
For me, this is what regenerative aesthetics is about: not changing your face, but encouraging your own tissues to function better and supporting the way your face ages.
Consultation and individual assessment always required. Results vary between patients.
