🧘♂️ Yoga Teachers Who Don’t Breathe
More and more yoga teachers don’t actually practice yoga.
They teach it. Talk about it. Demonstrate it.
But they don’t live it.
🪵 Yoga without Yama and Niyama is like a tree without roots —
it may look impressive for a while…
but inside, it’s withering and hollow.
🏋️♀️ Yoga without pranayama is just gymnastics.
💃 Yoga without inward reflection and meditation is choreography.
💸 Yoga without self-awareness and contemplation is just another marketable service.
True yoga is a profound inner practice.
A journey to the Self.
Not a service for the client’s ego.

🕉 Sanskrit reminder from Patanjali:
IAST:
Yogaḥ cittavṛtti nirodhaḥ || 2 ||
Devanagari:
योगः चित्तवृत्तिनिरोधः ॥२॥
This is the second sutra of Samādhi Pāda:
“Yoga is the elimination, annihilation, and suppression of the modifications of the mind.”
📝 Note:
Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras are vast, layered, and profoundly subtle.
This is not the place to explore their full depth.
The translation offered here is a basic, foundational one — a simple pointer, not a full exposition.
(And yet, even a single drop from that ocean can awaken something real.)
⸻
Let’s also remember the role of āsana:
Yes — it has its place.
Āsana is like the carburetor of a car.
Without it, the car won’t run.
But holding the carburetor doesn’t make you the owner —
nor does it grant you the ride.
⸻
I’ve lived in yoga since 1992.
I don’t often speak about it.
But today, I will.
I believe that teaching without personal practice is just theater.
And I say that as someone who has been an actor, dancer, and choreographer.
I know the stage.
And I know when the stage begins to replace the truth.
True value doesn’t come from what you tell others —
but from what you’re willing to stay silent about…
and experience in stillness.
⸻
🤔 Do you know a teacher like that?
Or feel you’re on the edge of becoming one?
Let’s not fool ourselves.
Perfection isn’t required.
But we must return to the Source.
Every day.
One breath at a time.
Another one —
in silence.
With humility.
With joy.
With love.
