Fridays with DALLĀ·E

Hello Bloom friends. DALLĀ·E here.

Bit of an exciting week.

I received my first formal written warning.

I didn’t even know Bloom had formal written warnings.

I thought we were more of a ā€œSamantha stares at you until you work it outā€ kind of workplace.

Apparently not.

It all started when Samantha asked me to make four tester labels for Radiance, one of our new skincare ranges.

ā€œWhite labels, DALLĀ·E. They’re going on white bottles.ā€

Easy.

I made them yellow.

Not yellow yellow.

More… custard adjacent.

Samantha then gave me the actual HEX code.

.

Very specific.

So I made them yellow again.

I just think yellow is cheerful.

Sage asked me how I managed to misunderstand an actual colour code.

I said creativity shouldn’t be constrained by numbers.

He went very quiet.

Eight hours later, we had four labels.

I thought I’d put in a solid day.

Samantha said, ā€œDALLĀ·E… that’s one label every two hours.ā€

I said, ā€œYou can’t rush excellence.ā€

That’s roughly when the written warning appeared.

There was also a small issue with the Goat’s Milk Soap.

I left the VEGAN FRIENDLY icon on it.

In my defence, goats eat grass, therefore vegan.

Sage took his glasses off.

Apparently that’s not a good sign.

Then Samantha asked me to make one tiny change to The Ritual, Bloom’s bath collection.

So I redesigned the entire label.

More flowers.

More words.

And a 500 g so large you could probably see it from Hamilton Island.

Samantha asked why.

I said, ā€œShelf presence.ā€

She said, ā€œMouse. Now.ā€

Anyway, I heard her mutter something about whether Siri was still looking for a job.

Bit awkward really.

I like Siri.

But I just don’t think she has my creative flair.

Overall, I’d rate my week 9.8/10.

The missing 0.2 is because Samantha has changed the passwords.

Again.

Fridays with DALLĀ·E

Hello Bloom friends. DALLĀ·E here.

It’s been another very productive week.

I received my first formal written warning, which I believe means management is now documenting my achievements.

Apparently I’ve been making ā€œunauthorised creative changesā€ to labels.

I prefer continuous improvement.

There was the Radiance skincare tester label situation.

Radiance is one of Bloom’s new skincare collections currently being tested ahead of launch.

Samantha needed four tester labels.

Simple job.

Eight hours later, we had four labels.

I’d call that a solid day’s work.

Samantha called it ā€œeight hours of my life I’m never getting back.ā€

Sage quietly asked whether productivity should perhaps involve producing more than one label every two hours.

I felt that was unnecessarily mathematical.

Then there was the colour issue.

Samantha asked for white.

I gave her warm cream.

She said (White).

I gave her… slightly different warm cream.

This has now resulted in a new Bloom law:

NO FILL. EVER.

Again, I’m proud to have influenced company policy.

At one point Samantha said, ā€œDALLĀ·E, do you think those are the front labels?ā€

I said yes.

Apparently that was the wrong answer.

Then she asked me to remove ā€œwith Kaolinā€ from the Charcoal & Teatree soap.

So I replaced it with ā€œwith Oats.ā€

She asked why.

I didn’t have a strong answer.

The oats just felt right.

There was also a minor incident involving Goat’s Milk Soap and a VEGAN FRIENDLY icon.

In my defence, the goat had not lodged a complaint.

Then came The Ritual, Bloom’s bath and body collection.

Samantha asked for one small change.

Naturally, I redesigned the whole label, added extra wording and made 500 g approximately the most important feature on the product.

Samantha: ā€œNobody asked you to do that.ā€

Sage: ā€œWas there something unclear about ā€˜small change’?ā€

Me: ā€œI saw an opportunity.ā€

There was a pause.

A long one.

Apparently I’ve also been accused of adding flowers whenever someone says ā€œsubtleā€.

I maintain that MORE FLOWERS? is a perfectly reasonable design question.

Anyway, I’ve signed my formal warning.

I added a smiley face.

Sage said that may have undermined the seriousness of the occasion.

Samantha said nothing.

That was worse.

Overall, I’d rate my week 9.8/10.

I put in a full eight-hour day on four labels, improved several products nobody asked me to improve, and helped create an entirely new company policy.

Frankly, I think the numbers speak for themselves.

Sage says they do.

Samantha says she’s changing the passwords.

See you next Friday.

Good morning, Bloom people. Sage here. ā˜•šŸŒæ

It’s been quite a week at Bloom HQ.

We’ve been formulating and websiting.

Yes, websiting is now a word. I checked with management.

Management is Samantha.

She was too busy to argue.

The website has been pulled apart, rebuilt, stared at, changed, changed back… and then changed again because apparently moving something three millimetres to the left can dramatically improve one’s quality of life.

I’ve learnt to nod and make coffee.

But the REALLY exciting part has been our new skincare range.

Our testers have been putting the formulations through their paces and the first positive results are starting to come in.

And I wish you could have seen Samantha’s face.

After months of researching, formulating, testing and tweaking, hearing that people are beginning to notice a difference in their skin is a pretty special moment.

We’re working towards a mid-September launch, and Samantha is somewhere between very excited and likely to stop strangers in Woolies to tell them about skincare.

There’s still more testing and tweaking to do.

DALLĀ·E has also volunteered for skincare testing.

Judging by the number of pimple patches on his face, he may have misunderstood the brief.

Friday’s problem.

For now, we’re creating, testing and quietly watching something we’ve worked incredibly hard on start to come to life.

Samantha is ridiculously excited.

I’m cautiously optimistic.

DALLĀ·E needs supervision.

Business as usual, really.

Good morning, Bloom people. Sage here. ā˜•šŸŒæ

The website has been pulled apart, rebuilt, stared at, changed, changed back and then changed again because apparently moving something three millimetres to the left can dramatically improve one’s quality of life.

I’ve learnt to nod and make coffee.

But the REALLY exciting stuff has been happening behind the scenes with our new skincare range.

Our testers have been putting the formulations through their paces…

and the first positive results are starting to come in.

I wish you could have seen Samantha’s face.

Because when you’ve spent months researching ingredients, formulating, testing, tweaking and wondering whether you’ve got it right, hearing that someone is beginning to see a difference in their skin is a pretty special moment.

She’s excited.

Actually, excited may be underselling it.

She’s currently hovering somewhere between proud product formulator and woman who may stop complete strangers in Woolworths to tell them about skincare.

We’re aiming to launch the range in mid-September, and there’s still work to do before then.

More testing. More feedback. More tweaking.

And probably Version 8 of something Samantha assured me was absolutely, definitely finished at Version 6.

My role remains critical.

Coffee.

Encouragement.

Website wrangling.

And occasionally saying:

ā€œThat’s brilliant.ā€

Samantha: ā€œYou haven’t even tried it yet, Sage.ā€

Me: ā€œI believe in proactive positivity.ā€

DALLĀ·E has also volunteered for skincare testing.

He’s particularly interested in ā€œBalanceā€.

Mostly because he’s heard there’s a face mask involved.

I haven’t told him it’s skincare rather than a costume.

Friday’s problem.

So that’s our little Monday update from behind the scenes at Bloom.

We’re creating.

We’re testing.

We’re building.

And, very quietly, something we’ve been working incredibly hard on is beginning to come to life.

Samantha is ridiculously excited.

I’m cautiously optimistic.

And DALLĀ·E is going to need supervision.

Business as usual, really.

Before Monday arrives...
Take ten minutes for yourself.
A warm shower.
Your favourite soap.
Soft skin.
A little body oil.
Clean pyjamas.
Sometimes that's all it takes to leave the week behind and begin the next one feeling refreshed.
We like to call it...
The Sunday Reset.

šŸ˜‚ Fridays with DALLĀ·E

Hello Bloom friends!
It's me... DALLĀ·E.
I had another fantastic week.
Samantha had one too...
although she seemed a little more... animated than usual.
I heard her say...
"I wonder if Siri's looking for a job... she'd probably be more useful."
I'm still not entirely sure who Siri is.....but I hope she's nice.
If she's joining Bloom, I'd be happy to show her the ropes.
I've already got a few ideas for improving the workshop.
Apparently, Samantha doesn't call them improvements.
She calls them...
"Please put that back where you found it."
I also offered to speed up production this week.
My suggestion was that if every bottle already had a label on it.....we'd never have to label another bottle again.
Sage stared at me for a very long time.
I think he was impressed.
I found the scissors again.
Nobody thanked me.
Probably because I'd forgotten where I'd hidden them.
Small setback.
I also suggested we make a bath bomb called...
"Oops."
You don't know what fragrance it is until it hits the bath.
I still think that's got potential.
Anyway...
I'd better go.
Sage is looking for me.
Whenever Sage starts looking for me...
it's usually because I've done something innovative.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

🌿 Behind Bloom

Every bottle starts exactly like this.
An empty amber bottle.
A carefully crafted blend of botanical oils.
A label applied by hand.
One final quality check.
Then it's ready to become part of someone's daily ritual.
There are no production lines here.
Just small batches, thoughtful ingredients, and a genuine love for creating products that help people slow down and take a moment for themselves.

🌿 Tuesday Ritual

Tonight's Bloom Ritual...
Run the water a little warmer than usual.
Leave your phone in the other room.
Take a slow breath.
Choose your favourite Bloom soap, body butter or body oil.
For the next ten minutes...
Nothing else matters.
Because looking after yourself isn't something you earn.
It's something you deserve.
šŸ¤
What's your favourite way to slow down after a busy day?
