If it no longer serves you, walk away.

Sometimes we feel we need to hold on to things like old habits, relationships, friendships and jobs because of nostalgia. Because it’s comfortable. Where in fact if we think about it, it’s generally more uncomfortable hanging on.

It’s ok to be selfish. In fact it’s absolutely paramount. You’ve heard the old saying ā€˜you can’t give to others if you’re not giving to yourself first’ and it’s true.

When you embark on a lifestyle change and it’s for ā€˜your’ own health, happiness and well-being and it makes ā€˜you’ feel good then you should be receiving nothing but support. If you are not, then you need to re evaluate why that is and take a stand. That stand may be to turn your back on that chapter and move on.

Sometimes others are uncomfortable with our changes because it highlights their own short comings. They don’t want to rise up with us, so it’s easier to make jabs and try and pull us back down.

This is far more selfish of them than it is of you saying no and putting your own needs, goals and self growth first.

It is hard to do and doesn’t mean you don’t care.

I do know from my own personal experiences that it is also very much worth it and it will open you up to finding your place and your people within your higher purpose.

These people are there ready to lift you up with them. These people will want you to succeed. These people will want you to grow and they will encourage you to rise up to your true potential.

Be selfish. Be unapologetic about it and be true to your future self.

It’s ok to turn your back on what no longer serves you.

CONSISTENCY OVER PERFECTION!!

I’ve said it a hundred times and I’ll continue to say it over and over again because it’s absolutely 100% how you will see results!

Not every session is going to be the perfect session. But if you continue to show up, continue to tick the boxes, continue to build and conquer those daily habits then you will get to where want to be in good time.

Slow progress is better than no progress right?

There will be obstacles and challenges and life happens but focus on staying consistent and you’ll be ok.

Some sessions just suck. It is what it is and it happens to all of us.

Maybe you haven’t been sleeping well.
Maybe you’ve had extra stress places upon you in the work place or at home.
Maybe you dropped the ball on your nutrition.
Ladies, even where you are in your menstrual cycle can effect your strength and energy.
Maybe you need a de-load as you’ve been absolutely smashing it in your sessions for a decent period of time.

Many things come into play when it comes to training.

Focus on showing up, focus on form and performance (completing the movements well) and focus on just being consistent rather than perfect.

If you’re doing all this, then you’re doing an an incredible job 🧔

Weight loss is not a goal, it’s the result of changed habits and mindset.

Your health is a journey, a process, an evolution. When you evolve, you will start to see the results.

Challenges don’t work. They are Bandaids and once that bandaid comes off, the challenge ends, then what? What have changed? What have you learnt to see you through long term?

When you can stop focusing on the outcome and start focusing on the process, the daily habits, the mindset shift and really start to focus on performance…. You’ve made it!

Everything else from then on will be an outcome, a bi-product of your new long term, sustainable lifestyle.

The outcome you want may be weight loss, but your goals should come in the form of changing daily habits. One day at a time, one habit at a time, one small win at a time.

The hardest part of taking on a coach is trusting the process.

Believe it or not, the biggest challenge is actually getting clients to eat ā€˜more’.

Learning to nourish your body must come first.

I never put someone into a deficit straight away as there is no background to suggest what that accurately and realistically looks like for them. Without pre existing data they could potentially be eating a lot less than necessary which in turn leads to them not being able to adhere to the diet.

Firstly I want to see a realistic log of what they actually eat NOW over a period of a week. So many people then start to log what they think I want to see, not what they have been eating the past year to get them to where they are now. It’s so important to be ready to hand over this information. There is no judgement, just valuable and necessary data.

From this information I can then work out what their maintenance calories might realistically look like.
This too, is super important because if a client can’t stick to maintenance cals, how can we expect them to be able to cope with being in a deficit?

Remember, when you hire a coach, you are hiring a lifestyle overhaul, a process that takes time.

There is no quick fix. Quick fixes only lead to failure down the track and then you’re back to square one.

Trust the process…. Reap the rewards!

And thank goodness for that because evidently I suck at juggling.

But did you know that over 70% of adults are not getting the minimum recommended servings in each day!?

I’m a huge fan of the addition concept.

To get my fruit in, I add to my breakfast. Whether it’s oats, toast, cereal, pancakes… I just add. It adds an extra sweetness and what a great way to start the day.

Snacks, I either just add to yoghurt or have on its own. It’s quick and easy and great for on the go.

I also add fruit to my dessert. Ice-cream, smoothies, yoghurt, jelly, cake even. Whatever it may be you bet fruit will enhance the experience for the better ā¤ļø

Veggies are added to my main meals which for me are pre and post workout plus dinner but for most lunch and dinner is adequate and even a quick easy to grab snack of crackers and veg sticks are great.

Adding veg to wraps, sushi, pizzas, burgers and throw together stirfrys and salads for lunches are a great go to.

Dinners are simple meat, veg and potatoes, sweet potatoes or pumpkin. And Veg can also easily be grated or finely chopped into pastas, curries or stews.

Even your favourite ready meals can easily be added to. I always keep the frozen individual serving packets of veg in the freezer to add an easy 150g of veg to any meal. They even take the same time to heat in the microwave as most ready meals.

There really are million ways to get those serves into every meal.

Fruit and veg contain valuable and vital micronutrients to keep us healthy on the inside. Don’t skip out on them.

What are your go to tips?

ā€œIf you build it, they will comeā€
- Field of Dreams

If you want the physique you must be willing to take the time to build it.

This means moving outside the idea of living in a calorie deficit and putting adequate time into being in surplus, fuelling your body and growing the muscle.

It’s inevitable that you will gain some fat too so be ok with that and expect it. However, building under controlled conditions with a qualified coach can limit excess and allow for adequate muscle gain. Then when the time is right to shred… hello definition and shape!

This also means, that while you may get uncomfortable you will also feel energised, strong, your performance will be at its best, you’ll sleep well, be happy and healthy. Your body will be thriving.

The next thing to be ok with is NOT panicking and going into a deficit when you start to see the scales go up. You are building. This is a necessary process to get the body you are desiring. To sculpt, to ā€˜tone’, to see muscle definition and shape.

If you build it, they will come. Just give yourself time to grow! šŸ’ŖšŸ¼šŸ‘

YOUR ONLY COMPETITION IS YOU!

You can only be yourself!
You are on your own journey!
Comparing yourself to others is counter productive.

Don’t compare your day 1 to somebody else’s day 90.
Don’t compare your year 1 to somebody else’s year 3, or your year 5 to somebody’s year 10!!

Focus on YOURSELF, YOUR journey, YOUR battles, YOUR wins, YOUR day 1 and YOUR day 90.

Then you will see YOUR progress and YOUR truth!

Look in the mirror! The person you see in the reflection is your ONLY competition!

WORDS ARE POWERFUL.

Our internal dialogue included. How we speak to ourselves can sometimes be cruel so it’s important to remind ourselves that we wouldn’t speak to our friends in a hurtful manner so we shouldn’t be speaking to ourselves in this way either.

Same goes with comments and judgements we make about others.

I hear it all the time and experienced it myself yesterday.
I hear people make comments on people in the gym taking selfies, wearing cute gym fits, make up, or flexing in the mirror.

YOU DON’T KNOW THEIR STORY!
It is not your business nor your place to pass judgment on somebody else’s journey. Regardless of what it ā€˜looks like’ to you.

Yesterday, I had a couple openly laugh at me. They were rude and blatant. I may have cellulite, stretch marks and loose skin but hearing their comments stung. I was literally headed to the beach to walk in the sunshine where people are wearing bikinis but regardless of this it was none of their damn business nor their right to make me feel like crap. I’d had an amazing check in that morning with a new low weight leading into my photoshoot and their comments dropped me. I’ve been bullied and picked on for being fat in the past and it took me back.
But after many reminders of my strength and how far I have come I picked myself up and talked myself through. I reminded myself how bloody hard I have worked and continue to do so every damn day to be where I am and to have achieved all I have.
Yes I have cellulite, saggy skin and stretch marks but I’m human and also have feelings. I am normal and no doubt they have a degree of all these things under their clothing too (possibly even feeling)

So here’s a reminder. Be kind. Be respectful and don’t judge a book by it’s cover.
If someone’s wearing something you may not choose yourself because of ā€˜your’ own body issues, keep your opinions to yourself.
Let people be proud of their achievements in peace. Let them take the selfie without judgement. Let them flex in the mirror with having to deal with your scoffing. Let people wear make up and dress in their favourite gym fit without your opinion.
Your judgement is your baggage. Not ours!

When we’re learning new skills it takes effort. Sometimes that effort feels like too much hard work and if it’s not a requirement of a job but rather something we need to do for ourselves then it’s very easy to just give up.

The problem with this is that over time this extra effort becomes easier and easier and with consistency and patience we’ve reached a point where it’s just natural.

Don’t give up because something is hard or feels like too much effort. It will be well worth it and you’ll be so thankful to yourself that you kept going.

Remember, everything comes at a cost and giving up comes at the biggest cost of all… to ā€˜you’!

Let me support you through!!
