No two are the same.
Every morning at 7, before a single sponge is touched, he sharpens his scissors by hand.

There are machines for this. He prefers a natural stone, because it leaves the scissors sharper.

Then the cutting starts. No moulds and no templates. Each natural sea sponge is trimmed with scissors and a knife by craftsmen who have done this for generations.

Afternoons are for sizing. See the board with the holes? Every sponge is passed through by hand, and the hole it fits decides if it is a Petite, a Classic or a Grande. Anything in between goes back for another trim.

So if yours looks a little different to the photo, that is the point. Grown by nature, shaped by a pair of hands, and no two alike.

Cut, cleaned and sized in the Greek Islands, then checked and packed by us here in Melbourne.

Sponge Diaries Ep. 5: How Every Sponge Gets Its Size

Same job. Very different story.

That plastic shower pouf? It’s plastic. It sheds microplastics and eventually ends up in landfill.

A natural sea sponge is grown in the sea, hand harvested in Greece and biodegradable at the end of its life. With the right care, it can last up to 12 months or more.

And yes, it gives you a better, creamy lather you want in the shower.

Tips to help your natural sea sponge last longer.

Everyday care is simple: rinse it well after use, gently squeeze out the excess water and leave it somewhere with plenty of airflow to dry.

Then every couple of months, give it a deeper refresh:
🫧 Bi-carb: Add 1 teaspoon of bi-carb soda to warm water, never boiling. Soak for 2–3 minutes, rinse thoroughly, gently squeeze and air dry.

🌊 Or our favourite: If you have access to clean seawater, take your sponge for a dip. Give it a good rinse and squeeze in the sea, then squeeze out the excess and air dry when you get home.
