How to Identify the Authenticity Of N95?

Must be approved by NIOSH
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is primarily concerned with worker safety and health. Therefore, filtering masks must be certified by NIOSH.
NIOSH-approved masks have an approval label on the package or inside the package, either on the box or in the user instructions. The mask will have an approval number beginning with "TC" and the NIOSH logo.

You should consider these factors before purchasing

Buying online
According to the CDC's guidance on identifying poor quality PPE, if buying directly through a website, look for spelling errors, grammatical errors, or other mistakes on the website. The presence of website defects such as unfinished or blank pages, dummy text, broken links, and misspelled domain names.
Third-party marketplace purchases
When buying through a third-party marketplace, check to see if the product's name says "Genuine" or "Genuine". Legitimate companies are not required to tell buyers that a product is genuine, at least not in the name of the product.
Pay attention to buyer reviews
Pay attention to what buyers have to say about the product or the seller. A buyer who is not satisfied with a product may reveal that the product is inferior or illegally manufactured.
Price
Is the price too good to be true? The likelihood of a fake product is high in this case.
Find a legitimate seller
Has the seller been selling the same items for a long time, or does he or she keep up with trends? Legitimate businesses tend to be consistent.
Does the seller put their contact information in the picture, if so, it indicates that they may be bypassing marketing policies and keeping the interaction between buyer and seller on their website?

Everything You Need to Know About the Particulate Respirator

Particulate respirator is a protective device that purifies the air you breathe. In daily life activities, you may be exposed to pollutants in the air around you. Particulate respirator can form a tight seal around your nose and mouth. It essentially protects your lungs from these tiny but potentially dangerous or hazardous particles.

When You Can Wear Particulate Respirator

Engaging in Activities That Generate Dust

For example, when sanding, painting, cleaning, grinding, etc., please wear Respirator. For example, using a chainsaw for construction or tile laying, fertilizing your yards and gardens, or mowing grass.

In Artistic Activities

Artists, craftsmen and hobbyists often work in dust, smoke, spray and mist. Art supplies such as charcoal and paint contain any number of other potentially hazardous materials. For example, potters are at risk of inhaling clay particles and glass dust. Wearing Particulate respirator is essential for lung protection and helps ensure that you enjoy your favorite activities for a long time.

When Using Chemicals

When using chemicals (such as bleach household cleaning products), wear Particulate Respirator because these chemicals can irritate the nasal cavity and sinuses.

To Prevent Allergens

Especially in spring and autumn, seasonal pollen and mold spores are usually the worst. These allergens can cause respiratory distress such as sneezing, itchy eyes, itchy throat, and asthma. Allergy sufferers can use it to avoid breathing allergens in the air.

In Case of Emergency

You should equip each of your family members with at least one Particulate Respirator in your emergency kit. After earthquakes, fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, etc., dust, smoke, ash, and mold spores are often filled with air, which can damage lung tissue. Particulate respirator can provide valuable protection under uncertain and rapidly changing conditions.

Tips to Wear the Particulate Respirator

1.In order to be effective, wear a respirator during the entire exposure to contaminants. If the respirator becomes difficult to breathe or becomes damaged, move to an uncontaminated area. And before returning to the contaminated area, be sure to replace the respirator.

2.This particulate respirator does not provide oxygen. Do not use in an environment where the oxygen content is less than 19.5%.

3.Be sure to refer to the usage time limit in the user manual to determine how long the respirator can be worn before it needs to be replaced.

4.Remember that the respirators with filters must be replaced if they are damaged, dirty, or cause breathing problems. Also, if the mask tears or the strap loses elasticity, replace the respirator.

5.Before using, store the respirator in its original packaging, away from contaminated areas, dust, sunlight, extreme temperatures, excessive moisture and harmful chemicals.

6.Before using, be sure to check the product in accordance with the instructions for use and perform user seal inspection. If you cannot achieve the correct sealing effect, please do not use it.

In the market, there are surgical masks and respirators (dust masks) with various rating which can be confusing. In general, masks are rated according to their filtration efficiency as one of their testing parameters.

Below is a table summarizing the standards, rating and their filtration efficiency.

Each country has their own certification standard for each mask type. For example, Australia uses the AS/NZS 4381 standard for surgical masks, whereas USA uses the ASTM F2100 standard. Each standard varies a little by country, however they are broadly similar. For respirator masks, China uses the KN standard (e.g. KN95) and the US uses the N standard (e.g. N95).

The standard with the lowest requirements on filtration effectiveness are the surgical masks and respirators have the highest requirements. Respirators also usually fit tighter around the face than surgical masks.
