Paddington Clinic
At Paddington Clinic, we incorporate Chinese herbal medicine into our approach to promote holistic well being for our
clients.
🌿 Many people feel like they’re stuck in fight or flight, but from an acupuncture perspective, there’s often more going on beneath the surface.
In Chinese medicine, this can be understood as an imbalance between Yin and Yang, particularly involving the Kidney system. When Kidney Yin becomes depleted (the body’s nourishing, restorative energy), Yang has nothing to keep it in balance. The result? The body can become stuck in a heightened state of alert, making it difficult to truly switch off.
At the same time, prolonged stress can continue to drive that Yang energy, further depleting Yin and creating a cycle that’s hard to break.
While treatment aims to restore balance, there are things you can also do to support your body:
• Prioritise quality sleep.
• Stay well hydrated.
• Give yourself time to rest.
• Support your digestion.
In Chinese medicine, the digestive system plays a key role in replenishing your body’s energy. A healthy appetite, regular bowel movements, and good digestive function all help provide the resources your body needs to restore balance.
When we support the root of the problem, the nervous system is often better able to regulate itself.

🌿 Have you ever seen Shonishin tools before?
These unique tools are used in Japanese paediatric acupuncture, a gentle style of treatment traditionally designed for babies and children.
Shonishin uses different techniques including brushing, tapping and gentle pressure on the skin to provide stimulation without the need for needle insertion.
Each tool has a different shape and purpose, allowing the treatment to be adapted to the individual child.
A beautiful example of how Japanese acupuncture can be gentle, subtle and effective.
🌿 Have you ever wondered why your acupuncturist keeps coming back to this point?
This is LI4 (Large Intestine 4), one of the most commonly used acupuncture points.
LI4 is a versatile point that can be used for a wide range of conditions, depending on the person and the treatment goal.
It is commonly used to help:
• Headaches and migraines
• Neck and shoulder tension
• Jaw pain and sinus congestion
• Stress and nervous system regulation
• Pain relief throughout the body
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, LI4 is known for promoting the smooth flow of Qi and Blood and is often combined with other acupuncture points to create a treatment tailored specifically to you.
Every acupuncture treatment is individual, so even though this point is used frequently, it’s only selected when it’s appropriate for your presentation.
Have you had this point needled before?
🌿 Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that uses precise microcurrents to support the body’s own innate healing processes at a cellular level.
Through advanced training with Caroline McMakin, one of the leading educators in FSM, we’ve continued to deepen our understanding of how this technology is being used across a range of health fields.
FSM is used by practitioners from many backgrounds, including doctors, physicians, and allied health professionals around the world. With thousands of practitioners globally and a growing body of knowledge, research, and clinical experience, FSM continues to expand as an innovative approach to supporting the body’s natural repair mechanisms.
A therapy that has been developing for over 100 years, FSM represents the ongoing evolution of how we understand and support healing.
🌿 Have you been telling yourself you’re “just stressed”?
When stress becomes your normal, it can be easy to overlook the signs that your body has been carrying it for too long.
Tight muscles, feeling overwhelmed by everyday tasks, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and feeling like things are becoming harder to manage can all be signs that stress is accumulating in your body.
Often, the hardest part is knowing what to do about it.
You don’t have to navigate it alone.
Book a free 15-minute consultation with our clinic (link in bio), and we’ll help you understand what may be contributing to your symptoms and what steps you can take to support your health.
Sometimes the first step is simply understanding what your body is trying to tell you.
🌿 Healing isn’t always a straight path, and it rarely happens overnight.
Every small step matters, and reaching out for support is never a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of courage.
Whether you’re navigating stress, persistent pain, burnout or simply feeling out of balance, you don’t have to do it alone. Sometimes the hardest part is taking that first step, but it can also be the one that changes everything.
Be patient with yourself. Healing takes time, and that’s okay.

🌿 Feeling more tired after starting your health journey can feel frustrating, but it doesn’t always mean you’re going backwards.
If your body has been running on stress and adrenaline for a long time, calming the nervous system can reveal just how tired you really are.
Instead of asking, Why am I still tired ask yourself, am I recovering better? Sometimes, that’s the first sign your body is moving in the right direction. 🌿
