Words are worth absolutely nothing on their own. They need to be paired with intentional action to mean anything.

When I was wounded and needy, the words were what I craved. To be told I was valued, pretty, proud of, enough. Oh my heart bled for those words. And when I heard them my insecure attachment jumped straight to connection and commitment.

And then I learned.
These words came from those who also had attachment wounds and could never show up for me, not really show up.
They offered the words I asked for so that they could get their wound tended in return.

It was basically a two person emotional s**t show.

Love is a verb.
It’s something we need to DO, to demonstrate, with intentional action. Or the person we feel that love for doesn’t feel it.

These days I show up with intentional acts of love for myself.
I value myself in legitimate ways that matter to me.
I don’t tell those around how to treat me. I demonstrate it!

I affirm my loved ones with intentional action too.

The love languages need a thorough update.

During my surgery recovery period I really got the best opportunity to test out my own products, and the biggest winner was the bath salts.

I designed these salt blends as a way for those with chronic pain and inflammation to get a full body Blossom Earth treatment with no application that might seem too big an ask for the body.

And they delivered!

I was having two baths a day at the height of my recovery.

In the morning I used Tension Relief to ease the swelling that had built up during the night.

Day 3 post surgery I found myself looking quite pregnant, with a very hard, distended, very painful stomach.

The site of my surgery was healing beautifully. But I was doubled over, crying, in agonizing pain with stomach cramps.

The combination of two types of antibiotics and anti inflammatories was an absolute killer for me.

While surgery may bring enormous positive changes in your health, it doesn’t come without its challenges.

My tips for supporting gut health when you’re having surgery are exactly what I did:

💊 Do everything you can prior to surgery to improve gut health - pre & probiotics, minimal alcohol and sugar, no yeast, lots of good gut foods like kombucha, Kim chi, sauerkraut if they agree with your gut normally.

💊 Talk to your Dr about any and all meds that haven’t agreed with you in the past. I was put on a different antibiotic because the Drs preferred choice had previously given me severe nausea.

💊 Talk to your Dr ASAP if you aren’t feeling ok. Your Dr should respond positively and helpfully. Expect that support.

💊 Use Create Calm on an upset or bloated tummy to ease pain and discomfort.

💊 Take pre & probiotics while taking antibiotics, but at least two hours apart.

💊 Add 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar to your glass of water.

💊 Eat nourishing cooked foods. Raw foods are harder to digest and can cause bloating if the gut isn’t able to digest them easily.

💊 Avoid sugar, alcohol, yeast etc.

💊 Be prepared that vaginal thrush may likely occur. If it does, act quickly.

Since I was 14 years old, I was not been in the body I was assigned.
“When will be get the rest of my b***s mum” was asked many times.
She told me they’d come and I’d hate them.
They never came. Not even when breastfeeding.

My body was beautiful, strong, glorious, functional and pleasurable... but it wasn’t mine.
When I would catch my reflection I would be shocked.
For the longest time - 33years, I had done all I could to reconcile the mismatch.
Even with all the tools I know and use to process emotional, mental and spiritual challenges, I could not get past the fact that despite all the self love and admiration I had for that body, I never felt like home.

Gratitude also to the women in my life who celebrated my courage and encouraged me to live authentically.

Gratitude to the men in my life who supported me to be me without making this choice a big deal at all, or having an opinion on what should happen to/with my body.
Particularly my son josh who when I told him my plans said ‘oh, cool... good for you...’ and moved on to the next topic of conversation.
This level of normalcy is the future. Young people are showing us the way.
