CARE TIPS FOR WOOLIES

Merino wool dreadlocks are naturally antimicrobial and lightweight, requiring minimal washing and gentle handling to maintain their texture and shape.

Washing and Cleaning
Clean the scalp, not the dreads: Wash only your roots and scalp every 1 to 2 weeks using a residue-free shampoo or a diluted shampoo mixture in an applicator bottle.

Avoid conditioner: Never use hair conditioner or conditioning shampoos, as product residue will get trapped inside the wool fibers and become difficult to rinse out.

Use lukewarm or cool water: Wash and rinse with lukewarm or cold water; hot water can cause wool to shrink, fade color, or over-felt.

Squeeze, don't rub: Gently squeeze soapy water through the locks rather than rubbing them aggressively against your scalp.

Drying and Maintenance
Dry thoroughly: Towel-blot excess water and use a hairdryer on a low/cool setting to completely dry your roots and the dread extensions to prevent mustiness or mildew.

Remove loose lint and pills:
Gently pull off surface fuzz or pills by hand, or carefully use a fabric shaver (lint remover) if needed.
Protect while sleeping:
Tie your dreadlocks up in a silk/satin scarf, bonnet, or a soft cotton t-shirt at night to prevent friction, frizz, and unwanted lint accumulation.

Preserve curls:
If you have curly wool extensions, avoid heavy moisture or tight pulling styles (like high, tight ponytails) that can loosen or straighten the curl pattern.
