What a fantastic day in Perth for our iTOP Introductory Course!

It was wonderful to bring dental professionals together for a day of hands-on learning, prevention and individual oral prophylaxis.

We also want to recognise our wonderful iTOP New Zealand team, Sharon Boutell Boutell and Dr Kevin Tims, along with everyone who has contributed to iTOP across ANZ over the years. Your support has helped build the strong foundation we have today.

We were honoured to welcome our international guest speaker, Dr Mary Iodine S. Lacanienta, Dean at Centro Escolar University in the Philippines, who shared her valuable insights and experience implementing iTOP with dental students. Thank you also to Daniela Plassard for joining us to celebrate this five-year milestone.

Over the past five years, iTOP in Australia has grown beyond courses across the country, with the iTOP philosophy also being introduced into university education and supporting the next generation of dental professionals.

And finally, a heartfelt thank you to our fantastic iTOP Advanced Seminar participants. Your curiosity, enthusiasm and willingness to share and learn from one another made the day so special. You are an important part of this journey.

A fantastic two days of iTOP student education at Adelaide University!

This week, Andrew Terry, Dr Sabine Selbach and Issy Loetscher delivered iTOP – individually trained oral prophylaxis to BDS Year 5 and BOH Year 3 students, combining evidence-based prevention with practical, hands-on learning.

The sessions gave students the opportunity to strengthen their skills in individual oral hygiene instruction, patient-centred prevention and the practical application of iTOP principles.

A big thank you to Andrew, Sabine and Issy for sharing their knowledge, experience and passion for prevention, and to Abby Wilkin for supporting the team throughout the sessions.

It was fantastic to see such great engagement, curiosity and enthusiasm from the students and to support the next generation of dental professionals in developing strong preventive skills from the very beginning of their careers.
