The ARSA Expresses Profound Gratitude to Malaysia for Protecting Persecuted Rohingya and Upholding Humanitarian Values and Dignity

Arakan Update- 14 June 2026

The Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) officially extends its sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the Government and people of Malaysia for providing protection, refuge, and opportunities to persecuted Rohingya refugees. Malaysia’s humanitarian support has offered hope and security to countless Rohingya families who were forced to flee violence, persecution, and displacement in their homeland of Arakan State, Myanmar.

For decades, Rohingya communities living in Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Rathedaung, Sittwe, Kyauktaw, Pauk Taw, and Taungup have faced severe hardships, including loss of life, destruction of homes, displacement, and arbitrary detention. As a result of ongoing insecurity and human rights violations, many Rohingya have been compelled to seek safety in neighboring countries, often risking their lives in dangerous journeys by land and sea in search of protection and a peaceful future.

The ARSA acknowledges and deeply appreciates the compassion shown by Malaysian authorities, including national leaders and local communities, toward Rohingya refugees. The Rohingya community remains committed to respecting Malaysia’s laws, contributing positively to society, fostering friendship and mutual understanding with local residents, and living peacefully until conditions allow for a safe, voluntary, and dignified return to Myanmar.

Furthermore, ARSA emphasizes that any individual who violates the law should be held accountable through the legal processes of the respective country. The Rohingya community rejects criminal activities and supports lawful conduct, peaceful coexistence, and social harmony. ARSA encourages all Rohingya to maintain respect for local laws, uphold good relations with host communities, and continue working toward a future built on justice, dignity, and mutual respect.
