me too... š«£
Most of us assume the products in our homes were made with our health in mind...but when you start digging, you realize that's not always the case.
So many everyday items were originally created for very different purposes and over time, they've been repurposed, reformulated, and marketed as "safe" for daily use.
That's why we should start reading labels & research everything we bring into our homes.
Not from a place of fear but from a place of informed choice. Because when you know better, you get to choose better for your family. š¤
The loofah isnāt just a shower accessory⦠itās a plant š±
PSA: That āloofahā you think of? It originally came from nature, not a factory.
The real loofah ā Luffa aegyptiaca ā is a fast-growing vine in the cucumber family. It climbs, flowers, and produces long fruits. When those fruits mature and dry, they transform into a tough, fibrous sponge thatās naturally exfoliating, biodegradable, compostable, and renewable.
In other words: itās exactly what we try (and fail) to recreate with plastic.
For thousands of years, people across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East used loofah as an everyday tool ā no waste, no pollution, no second thought. It grew easily, lasted long, and when it wore out⦠it simply went back to the earth.
Then came plastic.
Somewhere along the way, we swapped a self-growing, zero-waste solution for petroleum-based mesh that sheds microplastics, traps bacteria, and lingers in landfills for centuries. What used to be a closed, natural cycle turned into a slow environmental leak ā one shower at a time.
And the irony? We didnāt replace loofah because it was better.
We replaced it because it was cheaper to mass-produce.
Meanwhile, the plant still exists. It still grows like a w**d. One vine can produce multiple loofahs. It needs little care. And when youāre done with it, it doesnāt stick around for 500 years ā it disappears.
No waste. No guilt. Just a loop that works.
We didnāt lose the solution.
We just stopped noticing it.
Grow your own. Support small farmers. Cut it into sponges, scrubbers, or exfoliating pads. Use it, rinse it, dry it ā and when itās done, let it return to the soil.

I didnāt even realize what was fixing my acneā¦untill I started paying attention.
Iāve struggled with acne for a long time. But last year, I started using magnesium oil⦠not for my skin, but for my migraines.
And then something unexpected happened.
Slowly, my forehead acne started clearing up.
At first, I didnāt connect the dots. I thought maybe itās just coincidence, or my skin is having a āgood phase.ā
But the more I paid attention, the more obvious it became.
So out of curiosity, I tried something different ā
I started applying a tiny amount of magnesium oil on other areas of my face, like a light moisturizer at night. By the way, it works as an excellent moisturizer.
Within a weekā¦
my acne was almost gone.
No complicated routine.
No harsh products.
Just something so simple that I wasnāt even using for skincare in the first place.
It made me realize, maybe we donāt always need more products⦠just the right one.
Now this is something I swear by.
If youāre dealing with acne, sensitive skin, or random breakouts⦠this might be worth trying.

One of the reasons, why we at Hayatiq use essential oils instead of fragrance is exactly this. The most toxic thing in our home comes from fragrance. Not only is it considered ānormalā to put this on your skin but also fill our homes with artificial candles and spray the air with toxic chemicals called fragrance. While essential oils carry a nice aroma, when sourced correctly they are 100% natural a gift from nature that can support us. The more and more we make these little swaps and eliminate the very hormone disrupters we are allowing into our home the better it is for our homes, bodies and environments.
