Almost done my weeklong adventure. Thought I would share a place I found that made me feel so calm and at peace. I stayed here for hours!

Mount Fox
Perched above Upper Kananaskis Lake, Mount Fox was named in 1916 after Sir Charles Fox, a British engineer whose work helped shape railways and infrastructure around the world. Today, the mountain stands watch over one of Alberta's most beautiful valleys, a landscape defined by rugged peaks, alpine lakes, and endless adventure.

A fitting namesake for Wild Fox Rituals, inspired by a love of wild places and the adventures that await beyond the trailhead. ⛰️🦊

Blackrock Mountain
Blackrock Mountain was named for the dark bands of rock that dominate its appearance. The contrast between the black stone, alpine meadows, and winter snow creates one of the most striking landscapes in the Rockies. Proof that simplicity can be unforgettable.🖤🖤🖤

Copper Mountain
Copper Mountain takes its name from the rich copper-coloured rock and mineral staining found throughout the area. Depending on the light, its slopes can glow with warm orange and reddish tones, standing out against the surrounding peaks. Nature's reminder that colour can tell a story millions of years in the making.☀️☀️

Mount Columbia
At 3,747 metres, Mount Columbia is the highest peak in Alberta. It was named in 1898 after the Columbia River, which itself was named after the ship Columbia Rediviva that explored the river's mouth in 1792. One mountain carrying centuries of exploration, history, and adventure in its name.😲🥰

Mount Lawrence Grassi

This peak was named after Lawrence Grassi, an Italian immigrant, coal miner, mountain guide, and legendary trail builder who helped shape the Bow Valley. Many of the trails still enjoyed around Canmore today trace back to his work. His legacy lives on in the landscape he loved. 🥰

Have you ever wondered about the mountains featured on our labels?

Each topographic design is based on a real peak in Alberta or British Columbia. Here are a few of the stories behind them.

Fortress Mountain:

Fortress Mountain earned its name from its imposing cliffs and ridgelines, which resemble the walls of a stone fortress when viewed from the valley below. Rising above Kananaskis Country, it has become one of Alberta's most recognizable mountain silhouettes. A reminder that some places don't need to be built by human hands to feel monumental.
