I’m going to be honest with you… (thank you Elate Beauty for being so honest to start!)

I haven’t been sleeping well lately.

With proposed tariffs between Canada and the USA threatening trade currently allowed tariff-free under CUSMA, I have been worried.

Though not many of our future products will be affected by the tariffs if they come into effect, some will. And those added dollars will make doing business in the USA more difficult.

With that said, I do want to stress we appreciate our American customers. If you purchase from us across the border, we package your package with extra Canadian love.

We know you could easily drop us if tariffs come into effect, and affect the price of our Bloom Box, for example. But I hope you will give us a chance to prove we are worth every penny you spend.

Your satisfaction is our goal. Now and always.

Today is our last day at Bountiful Market.

What to say?

I’m feeling a melange of emotions today, from sadness to excitement.

Sadness because Bloomin’ Bliss is leaving the best market in the city Bountiful Farmers’ Market - Southside Edmonton .

Excitement because now the World Wide Web is our home, where we can meet customers across North America.

There’s so much to learn in this new chapter.

Pinterest.

Email marketing.

Meta ads.

And the list goes on.

But I’m confident in my ability to learn, and I’m excited about what comes next.

Last Friday, Frodo, my dog, and I, were attacked by a big, black dog that bit both Frodo and me.

It landed me in the hospital and Frodo at the vet.

Since then, we’ve both experienced the aftermath of the event.

Nightmares. Reliving the attack in the mind.

Just feeling uneasy in our neighbourhood.

It’s not what I would wish on anyone.

However, the attack had one benefit.

It allowed me to practice methods I’ve been learning in my somatic regulation training program to take care of myself in a trauma-informed way.

It’s also confirmed for me that our meditations at Bloomin’ Bliss, the ones that accompany our bath bombs and shower steamers, need to be trauma-informed.

Because I’m not the only one who has experienced such traumatic events. Many, many others have as well. From traumatic accidents to grief to childhood wounds, many people quietly suffer with trauma triggers.

What I hope Bloomin’ Bliss can offer is self-care that not only uses the power of aromatherapy and the warmth of the bath/shower, but also uses the power of trauma-informed, somatic practices in our gentle meditations.
