How many hours a day, do you spend looking down?

Phones. Laptops. Tablets. We spend hours with our heads tilted forward, and over time that position can lead to what’s commonly called “tech neck.”

Common signs include:
• Neck pain or stiffness
• Headaches
• Tight shoulders
• Pain between the shoulder blades
• Reduced range of motion
• Tingling or numbness into the arms in some cases

The good news? Tech neck is often treatable.

At Ideal Physio, we’ll identify what’s contributing to your symptoms and create a treatment plan that may include hands-on physiotherapy, targeted exercises, posture education, and strategies to help you move more comfortably throughout your day.

A simple tip: Every 30–45 minutes, put your device down, stand up, roll your shoulders, and move your neck through a comfortable range of motion. Your body was built to move, not stay in one position all day.

If your neck has been reminding you it’s had enough, we’re here to help at our Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Ancaster, and Windsor clinics.

This may sound unbelievable, but it’s true…

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most common causes of dizziness and that “room spinning” sensation. It happens when tiny calcium crystals become displaced inside the inner ear, disrupting your balance.

The encouraging part? BPPV can often be treated without medication.

After a thorough assessment, your physiotherapist may perform the Epley manoeuvre, a series of gentle head and body movements designed to guide those crystals back where they belong.

Many people notice significant improvement after just one treatment, although everyone’s recovery is different.

If turning over in bed, looking up, or bending down brings on dizziness, don’t ignore it.

Our team is here to help at our Hamilton, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, and Windsor clinics.

Meet Shree… and two very enthusiastic members of our welcome committee. 🐾

If Budzy and Teddy look happy, it’s because they know they’re in good hands.

We’re excited to reintroduce Shree, who brings a compassionate, patient centred approach to every visit.

Shree has a special interest in pelvic floor rehabilitation and also incorporates acupuncture, dry needling, and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) into treatment when appropriate. Every rehabilitation plan is tailored to the individual, with the goal of helping patients move better, feel stronger, and get back to the activities that matter most to them.

Pelvic health is about so much more than Kegels. Whether you’re dealing with pelvic pain, pregnancy or postpartum recovery, menopause, incontinence, or other pelvic floor concerns, Shree provides a safe, supportive environment where your treatment is personalized to your comfort level and your goals.

And yes… Budzy and Teddy, our Director of Operations’ four-legged assistants, occasionally stop by to make the clinic a little brighter.

We think they’re pretty good at their jobs, too. 💙

Shockwave therapy works by delivering targeted acoustic waves to injured tissue. Those waves create a mechanical stimulus that encourages increased blood flow, supports tissue repair, and can help “restart” the healing process in chronic injuries that may have stalled.

It’s commonly used for conditions like plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, Achilles tendinopathy, calcific shoulder pain, and other persistent tendon injuries, especially when rest alone hasn’t been enough.

The key isn’t simply treating where it hurts. It’s understanding why it hurts. That’s why every treatment at Ideal Physio begins with a comprehensive assessment, so we can determine whether shockwave therapy is the right fit for your recovery.

You can access shockwave therapy and our full range of rehabilitation services at our Hamilton, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, and Windsor clinics.

Have questions about whether shockwave therapy could help your injury? Reach out to our team, we’re always happy to help you understand your options.

Vertigo isn’t just feeling dizzy. 😵‍💫

It’s the sensation that you, or the room around you, is spinning or moving when everything is actually still. It can make walking, driving, working, or even getting out of bed feel overwhelming.

The good news?

Many cases of vertigo can be assessed and treated with physiotherapy.

At Ideal Physio, we begin by identifying what’s causing your symptoms. If your vertigo is related to your inner ear or vestibular system, vestibular rehabilitation can help retrain your brain and balance system. Treatment may also include specific repositioning manoeuvres, balance training, and exercises designed to reduce dizziness and improve confidence with everyday movement.

You don’t have to simply “wait for it to pass.”

If the room keeps spinning, let’s start by finding out why….

Poor posture.
Weak muscles.
Limited mobility.
Compensating for an old injury.

At first, you might only notice a little stiffness or discomfort. Over time, those small compensations can lead to ongoing pain and make everyday activities feel harder than they should.

Physiotherapy isn’t just about recovering from an injury. It’s about understanding why your body is moving the way it is, improving strength and mobility, and helping prevent future problems through a personalized treatment plan that may include exercise, manual therapy, and education.

The earlier you address the issue, the easier it often is to get back to doing the things you love.

Whether you’re dealing with a new injury, recurring pain, or simply don’t feel like you’re moving your best, we’re here to help.
