Although I was born into Catholicism, I was never taught to pray out loud. In my current faith community, it is highly encouraged. I remember initially feeling embarrassed and thinking, absolutely not. It took me a year before I could even gather the courage to say one small prayer with someone. There was such a choke on my ability to vocalize my faith. But it was actually a choke on my ability to speak up about the truth, clarity and conviction. And that can be scary! But there is freedom on the other side āļø
Some of the greatest breakthroughs in my faith have come through spoken prayer and intercessionāwhether it was others praying over me or me praying for others. It has been such a life-changing experience in lifting burdens, healing my heavy heart and being overcome with thanksgiving and grace. It can feel clumsy and awkward at first, but it is such a powerful way of allowing the Holy Spirit to work through you.
Itās something you have to practice. Most people arenāt comfortable with it from the start. This is part of developing confidence in your authority in Christ, learning to protect your spirit, and interceding in faith for the protection of others as well.
Genuine spoken prayer can help us express our faith, agreement, and encouragement. It can serve as a bold declaration in the spirit, helping us stand against personal struggles. It can release emotional burdens and foster a deeper, more intimate connection with God. Confessing also within trusted groups also fosters unity and allows us to learn from one another.
āAgain, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.āļæ½ā Matthew 18:19ā20 (NIV)

2025: Big moves. Taking responsibility. Growing in community.
This year has stretched me, shaken me, broke me open for the beginning of the deepest healing. Iām in awe of what God has done when I said yes, even when it was deeply uncomfortable and uprooting.
šļø Got baptized in the Dominican Republic. Most transformative experience this year. āØš¤ Faced my fear of public speaking and led 4 back-to-back workshops at the Women in Construction ConferenceāØš§¾ Finally filed 3 years of overdue taxes and faced financial avoidance. Humbly learning from a lot of business mistakes and what it means to steward wealth. Building my systems from the ground up here. āØš” Closed my home practice I built over 4 years in the Beaches and relocated to the west end. āØš Restarted my private practice downtown + joined Haven Wellness & The Athleteās Grid for deeper community and growth after being solo for years (you can only grow so much alone)āØš¶ Trained in infant craniosacral therapy with and began working with babies & childrenāØš¤ Completed a 9-month postpartum practitioner training with to better support mothersāØšļøāāļø Made serious strength gains with āØš Faced another fear and got my full G licenseāØāļø Found freedom in my faith community; healing old wounds, releasing church hurt, and stepping into leadership.
2025 has humbled me. The way God has transformed my heart this year has me feeling so grateful and excited for whatās ahead in 2026: settling into my new community, stepping into leadership, staying coachable, creating online programs, offering in-person workshops, dream-team collaborations, moving toward greater financial freedom, and building deeper relationships.
Where you are resisting breath, you are resisting life
I shared this at a conference discussing holistic health strategies because breath isnāt soft or abstract ā itās foundational.
Most of us donāt know how to breathe properly. And when breathing mechanics are off, the bodyās pressure system is disrupted ā affecting stability, movement, circulation, digestion, lymphatic flow, and nervous system regulation.
The diaphragm isnāt just a breathing muscle.ļæ½Itās central to posture, core support, spinal mechanics, and how the body handles load and stress.
This is why I start by assessing and restoring the breath through bodywork and education. Not to ārelaxā you ā but to help your body function the way it was designed to.
For bodies that work hard, carry load, and live under constant demand, breath is not optional.
ļæ½Itās infrastructure.
And when breath flows freely, the body follows. š¤
