A message from the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba (MTAM):
6/23/2026
The Government of Manitoba has formally designated Massage Therapy as a regulated health profession under The Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), establishing the College of Massage Therapists of Manitoba and setting the foundation for professional regulation in our province.

Practice of Massage Therapy Regulation, M.R. 48/2026

For many within the profession, this moment has been decades in the making.

Massage therapists, educators, volunteers, professional associations, government partners, and countless advocates have dedicated years of effort toward achieving regulation. This announcement reflects the growth, maturity, and professionalism of massage therapy and recognizes the important role massage therapists play in supporting the health and well-being of Manitobans.

MTAM is proud to have been part of this journey and to have worked alongside members, stakeholders, and government throughout the regulation process.

Introducing Hallie Jamieson, Certified Athletic Therapist.

From Hallie:
“I am a recent graduate of the University of Winnipeg, where I earned my Bachelors of Science in Athletic Therapy. As a newly certified AT with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA), I am excited to step into this role and support individuals in the community through active recovery, injury prevention and rehabilitation.

I completed two years of hands-on practicum working with the Winnipeg Wesmen Women’s Basketball team and the RINK Hockey Academy. These placements allowed me to work closely with a wide variety of ages of athletes in high-performance environments, gaining experience in injury assessment, on-field care, rehabilitation programming and return to play programming. My past clinic placements gave me the opportunity to work with the general population of all different ages and backgrounds as well so it’s okay if you aren’t an athlete, book with me and we can make you feel like one!

I am certified in soft tissue release, cupping therapy, first responder care and first aid. My approach to treatment is evidence-based and client-centred, tailored to each individuals goals. Whether you are returning to sport, staying active, or just want to feel better in daily life, I look forward to helping bring athletic therapy to the community.”

Suzanne Ngui Millar, RMT has recently completed an Advanced Level 3 lymphedema/chronic edema management training with certification in the Dr. Vodder method of Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT) offered by the internationally recognized Dr. Vodder School.

CDT enables Suzanne to manage patients with lymphedema and chronic edema, using a combination of Manual Lymph Drainage, Exercise Therapy, Compression Bandaging and Skin Care.
CDT allows advanced care of patients with lymphedema, whether from surgery, radiation or congenital malformation. Suitable venous edema, lipedema and other types of chronic edema may also be managed successfully with these techniques.

Apart from increasing lymph flow, MLD also has pain-relieving effect and can be used with recent trauma, such as sports injuries. Patients find the techniques soothing and relaxing with no side effects. It is a gentle, rhythmic massage-like movement, performed with a great deal of precision and requires a well-trained therapist to obtain good results.
