Creating this piece was so special. 🐻💜

My client knew from the start that she wanted a mama bear with her five cubs, with one of the cubs represented in purple. When I suggested stepping away from the traditional bear colours and incorporating vibrant colours throughout the cubs while keeping mama bear in a soft, neutral tone, she was all for it.

The biggest challenge was designing six bears in one piece without it feeling too busy, and I think we found the perfect balance.
To complete the design, we added heart berries (strawberries), which hold deep significance in many Indigenous cultures. Often referred to as the "heart berry" because of their heart-like shape, they symbolize love, healing, forgiveness, kindness, and the connection we share with one another. They serve as a reminder to lead with a good heart and to carry compassion for ourselves, our families, and our communities
I love that we were able to incorporate this meaningful teaching into a piece that celebrates the love between a mama bear and her five cubs.🫶🏻

Got to create this memorial piece for my clients beloved dog. She wanted to incorporate the shape of her pup’s paw print, use the nose print to make flowers with, include her name, and add touches of blue inspired by forget-me-nots—a flower that symbolizes remembrance. 💕
