What is the size of the staple?

Answer:
Wide staples are used 80 percent of the time, and are considered the all purpose staple size.

They are indicated for use upon medium to thick skin. The wire diameter of wide staples is thicker than that for medium staples (.55mm to.58mm).

The backspan is wider (6.4mm to 7.1mm) and the staple depth is equal to or greater than that of the regular staple (3.9mm to 4.7mm).
Regular staples are used approximately 20 percent of the time, and a re indicated for use in thin to medium skin.

The wire diameter ranges from .51mm to .53mm,and the backspan ranges from 5.0mm to 5.7mm, depending upon manufacturer.
Staple depth ranges from 3.5mm to 3.9mm.

Are the staples MRI compatible?
Answer:
316L stainless steel is only slightly affected by magnetism. Drawing the material into wire and then forming the wire into staples will increase the magnetic properties but only very slightly.
The material mass of the staples is small and even if they did move, they are unlikely to move in any significant way that will harm the patient.
When exposed to MRI, the staples may cause voids in the output (sometimes referred to as “blooming”).
