Hair loss can occur at any point in our lives and for some it may be a temporary challenge after child birth, illness or following a life changing event. Some other conditions such as PCOS, Lupus, Thyroid, Alopecia etc. can leave us with more permanent issues and getting older when you had fine hair to begin with has its challenges as our bodies change and hormone levels alter. Whatever the reason hair loss is a distressing condition that attacks our self esteem and causes daily anxiety about our appearance and our value as women. Its still a taboo subject despite hair loss and thinning affecting millions of women all over the world and for many its a secret they don't want to share. Here at Beautiful Betsy we understand the anguish and the misery, we suffered at the hands of hair loss ourselves and you can be sure of an empathetic welcome. You can also be certain that we will do whatever we can to provide you with a solution that is going to turn your life around and give you back your confidence and make you feel and look like you again. Betsy is a real human Hair Enhancer or Topper that in moments can give you back a full head of hair. She can be cut, dyed and heat styled to look like you giving you the option to have the 'hairdo' you have always wanted. If you’re not styling your human hair topper, you’ll never feel truly at home in her. Simple as that.
Your topper should look like you. At Beautiful Betsy we wear the hair. The hair does not wear us.
This is my Lois in Chestnut Sunlight, pre cut, with a darkened root and lowlights added. Pre cut means she’s been taken from a single length to having face framing layers, a long sweeping fringe, and a longer layer at the back that sits at the nape, so you keep all the density where you need it most. More movement, more interest, more like me.
Today I’m using the heated brush (link to buy https://vm.tiktok.com/ZN9AoYK3YsbrC-4IFhd/ ) with retractable prongs (is that what you call them?). Lightweight, drama free, and no chance of tangles. Anyone else remember cutting a curling brush out of their hair in the 80s? Never again.
Here’s how I did it:
1. Start with clean hair and heat protector. Always.
2. Set the temperature low. This brush goes from 150 to 210 degrees and I used 165, which is plenty for a human hair topper. She can’t grow back, so be kind with the heat.
3. Style the back off your head. Take a small section, brush it through first to smooth, then wind the hair around the brush in the direction you want it to fall. I styled away from the face.
4. Hold for around five seconds, retract the bristles/prongs and release. You’re not after a curl here, just bounce and movement through that longer layer.
5. Pop her on to finish the front and sides. This is where you blend your own hair with Betsy so it all moves as one.
6. Hold your topper in place while you style. Anything that tugs could pull on your own hair, and nobody wants that.
7. For the fringe and front pieces, think bend not curl. Just a little kick at the ends and guide the hair where you want it to go.
8. Finish with a tiny tweak to placement. Done.
The wide bristles work just like a wide tooth co , so you smooth and style in one go with no damage. I found it easier than straighteners but if that’s what you have got then they will do a great job too.
