During a recent appointment, we examined a client with hearing loss in one ear. The examination found the ear canal was blocked by excessive earwax. After gentle warm-water irrigation to safely remove the wax, the client experienced immediate relief and was surprised at how quickly their hearing improved.

During the examination, the client reported experiencing ear pain in the right ear. Otoscopy revealed bilateral cerumen impaction (wax blockage in both ears). The client was advised to instill olive oil into the ear canals for a few days to soften the wax, with a follow-up appointment scheduled for next week to perform wax removal. The client expressed a preference for irrigation as the method for clearing the ear canals.

The client had been experiencing ear pain and itching of both ears. Upon examination, significant cerumen impaction was observed bilaterally. Following treatment with ear irrigation (water irrigation), the canals were successfully cleared of wax, resulting in complete resolution of symptoms.
