This is a light hearted watch for your whole team together. Reflecting on the impact of rolling eyes, snarky attitudes and snippy responses

Are you an Early Years Leader, Manager who is struggling with your team? Maybe you have a toxic culture and nobody can get along?

Are you keen for everyone to learn how to respect each other, to work in collaboration. Instead of conflict?

Firstly we have to RESPECT each other, whilst recognising that children deserve places and places to THRIVE

That WE are role models to children and how can we expect children to develop PSED is we the adults are not demonstrating it TOO

WHY DOES NOBODY CHANGE THE BLOODY TOILET ROLL?

There’s always a new one balanced on top.

The empty cardboard tube is still sitting on the holder, staring at you, while the replacement roll has been dumped two inches away.

You were nearly there, Karen.

It takes ten seconds. TEN. 😫

And yes, I know it’s only toilet roll.

But just like the dirty mugs, it’s never really about that.

It’s the same people noticing what needs doing and the same people walking past it because ā€œsomebody elseā€ will sort it.

Then you end up doing it.

Again.

You’re managing a nursery, trying to support your team, sort the rota and keep everything running. You shouldn’t also need to write a bloody procedure for changing a toilet roll.

Nobody wants to be the toilet-roll police.

It’s one tiny job, but when you’re always the person picking up everyone else’s tiny jobs, it starts to wear you down.

Please, for the love of all things early years, take the empty tube off and put the new roll on. šŸ˜‚

What’s the tiny job everyone avoids in your setting? šŸ‘‡

WHY DOES NOBODY WASH THEIR BLOODY MUG? ā˜•ļø

Seriously, what is it about staff-room mugs?

They make the drink. They drink the drink. Then they leave the mug sitting in the sink with that horrible cold bit of coffee still in the bottom.

And who ends up washing it?

Usually the manager.

Because apparently you haven’t got enough to do sorting the rota, covering lunch breaks and dealing with whatever drama has kicked off today.

And yes, I know it’s only a mug.

But it’s never just the mug, is it?

It’s the same people leaving things behind and the same people quietly clearing up after them.

People notice. They get fed up. Then the eye-rolling starts, somebody sticks a snotty note above the sink and suddenly we’ve got bloody mug gate.

You shouldn’t have to chase grown adults to wash up after themselves.

We need your team to notice what needs doing and gets on with it. Not leave it for ā€œsomebody else,ā€ because we all know somebody else usually means you.šŸ™ˆšŸ˜«šŸ˜

So tell me, what’s the tiny thing causing massive drama in your setting at the moment? šŸ‘‡

Drama, drivel and staff members who just can’t get along!

As early years managers and owners, we have enough crap to deal with.

We don’t need to be a glorified referee in an argument over who washes the tea-time pots or tidies the garden. 😫

Our brains are full. Information is falling out of our ears, and we haven’t got time to drink our cold coffee, let alone sort out another staff-room squabble.

Again.

Are you sick to death of the negative atmosphere?

Walking through the door wondering who’s going to be mardy today and what on earth has happened now?

Working in early years should feel joyful. But far too many owners and managers dread going into work because the mood hoovers have already sucked the energy out of the building. 😭

It doesn’t have to stay this way.

You can stop being the referee.

You can tackle the bitching, improve communication and build a team that respects one another.

That Petri dish of negativity can change, but ignoring it and hoping everyone will suddenly start getting along won’t do it.

Keen to know more?

Desperate to stop the drama, drivel and bitching?

I’ll be sharing more about a FREE LiVE coming soon. šŸ’—

Because what gets brushed off as ā€œjust having a moanā€ can quickly turn into eye-rolling, whispering, staffroom drama, drivel and everyone being dragged into somebody else’s bad mood.

You know the ones.

The mood hoovers.
The moan-a-saurs.
The ā€œI’m not being funny, butā€¦ā€ brigade.

I’m going LIVE soon to talk about this properly.

Negative workplace culture, the conversations leaders keep avoiding and what to do when the moaning and bitching are starting to take over your setting.

I’ll let you know all the details very soon.

But for now, be honest…

Is it really ā€œjust a bit of banter,ā€ or is it damaging your team?

Bitching has no place in early years, children deserve emotionally SAFE spaces.

Do your team leave the kitchen in a mess? Do they forget to wash their cups and lunch plates?

20/09/2026

Hands up, who has checked their emails today ā€œjust for a quick lookā€? šŸ‘€

It’s Sunday. Shut the inbox.

The rota will still be there tomorrow. So will the paperwork, the staff messages and Deidre Dyson’s latest drama.

Being the manager does not mean being available every hour God sends.

Put your phone down. Drink your coffee or tea while it’s hot.

Watch rubbish telly. Go for a walk. Do something that has absolutely nothing to do with ratios, rotas or risk assessments.

You are allowed to be off duty. ( that means you Deana Hunt šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚)

Put your out-of-office on and mean it. šŸ’—

You’ve put your out of office on…

So why are you still checking your emails? šŸ‘€

Your time off is not ā€œwork, but from the sofaā€.

The nursery will survive.
The emails can wait.
And no, you do not need to reply ā€œtoday ā€

Put the phone down.
Step away from the inbox.
Give yourself permission to be OFF work .

Because an out of office means absolutely nothing if your head is still at work. šŸ’›

Who needed this little reminder today?

18/09/2026

Early years managers
You survived, it’s Friday !
Have yourself a great weekend
Happy Friday šŸ’ž
