Things brides always say at trials… and what they actually mean 🤍
“I never wear makeup.”
This is extremely common — and completely okay. Your makeup is always tailored to you. If you have clearer skin, we won’t overload foundation, but we still need a light base to even out tone, add longevity and ensure everything lasts all day without patchiness or discolouration.
“I don’t want it too heavy / cakey.”
Also very normal. Bridal makeup should never feel heavy. A good makeup artist will focus on skin prep, lightweight layering, and the right products so your skin still looks like skin — just perfected.
“I still want to look like me.”
This is the most important one I hear daily. The key here is specificity. What does “like you” mean to you? Is it your brows staying natural? No heavy contour? A softer lash? A certain lip tone you always feel comfortable in? These details matter so your artist can enhance you, not change you.
“Can we make my eyes pop but keep it natural?”
Yes — but again, it comes down to balance. We can enhance your eyes through placement, lash choice and soft definition without making it look heavy or overdone.
The biggest advice I can give any bride is this: do your research when choosing your makeup artist. Look through recent work, understand their style, and make sure you feel that gut feeling that they are the right fit for you.

THREE THINGS THAT INSTANTLY RUIN YOUR MAKEUP↓
1. USING CONCEALER INSTEAD OF FOUNDATION.
A bright under-eye with nothing else on the skin can make your face look unbalanced. Unless your skin is already very even, a skin tint or lightweight foundation usually creates a much more natural finish and lasts longer.
2. THINKING SETTING SPRAY WILL FIX BAD MAKEUP.
If your base is separating, cakey or patchy, no setting spray is going to save it. The problem is usually your skin prep or the products you’re layering, I have a video on my step my step skin-prep.
3. BAKING FOR THE AESTHETIC.
If you’re baking just because everyone on TikTok does it, stop. Most people don’t need it, and it often leaves your under-eyes looking dry, heavy and older than they are.
