Clearing ragwort from one of the Crofts yesterday - in advance of topping - and came across these..! Cinnabar moth caterpillars! Haven’t seen any since the ‘70’s. Left them plenty of plants in areas which weren’t due to be topped and wished them luck..!

We finally took some sheep to a show, not just showcasing the breed this time, actually into the ring. When I say ‘we’, of course I mean Anthony went into the ring!
The Assynt Young Crofters Club organised a wee local show. Small but mighty. Lots of sheep for judging, sheep dog demo, shearing and clipping demos (thanks to RH Livestock & Animal Care for the commentary), spinning and dying, some games and of course the home baking and hot filled rolls from Elphin Larder 😋
We didn’t get a single rosette (pah, we was robbed!) but we had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Lovely to chat with folk and meet new, especially other Shetland people Torbeg Cottage. Perhaps a Shetland class next year? 🤔

Red Rock Flock have you let the Ronnies teach them bad habits?! 🤣🤣

We’ve had a weekend road trip ☺️ Visited friends and enjoyed the Scotland Fiji 🏉game at Murrayfield (I say enjoyed, I’m not sure my blood pressure coped very well with the start of that game!).
The drive home had a wee pit stop at Red Rock Flock to collect these fabulous sheep to add to our current small flock. This will introduce new blood lines for us and also ongoing into the area perhaps. We were also taken round to see the Ronnies Maddie took on from us, really lovely to see how well they are doing and that the flock has grown a good bit. Fiona came over to look for food and swiftly left when she realised I had nothing for her, charming 🙈🤣
