Carers Week 2026: Building Carer Friendly Communities šŸ’œ

Tomorrow marks the start of Carers Week 2026, a time to recognise and celebrate the millions of unpaid carers who quietly support loved ones every day.

As a carer myself, I know that caring can be rewarding, but it can also be exhausting, isolating, and emotionally demanding. Too often, carers put everyone else’s needs first and their own wellbeing last.

This year’s theme, Building Carer Friendly Communities, really resonates with me. A truly carer friendly community is one where carers are seen, heard, understood, and supported—not just during Carers Week, but every day of the year.

Behind every caring role is a person with their own hopes, challenges, health needs, and dreams. Carers deserve opportunities to rest, connect with others, access support, and live fulfilling lives beyond their caring responsibilities.

That’s why I’m proud to support the work of Lanarkshire Carers, who continue to create spaces where carers can find understanding, friendship, practical help, and a sense of belonging.

Their Carers Week programme offers a wonderful opportunity to take a break, meet other carers, learn something new, and enjoy some well-deserved time for yourself.

For me, wellness with a conscience means recognising that self-care isn’t selfish especially for carers. Looking after ourselves helps us continue looking after those we love.

To every unpaid carer reading this: thank you. Your contribution matters ā¤ļø

You matterā¤ļø

Let’s continue working towards communities where no carer feels invisible, unsupported, or alone šŸ’

Experience the Benefits of Warm Bamboo Massageā¤ļø

Treat your body to the soothing power of warm bamboo massage, a luxurious treatment designed to melt away tension, relax tired muscles, and leave you feeling refreshed from head to toe.

Using smooth, heated bamboo tools, this massage allows deeper pressure to be applied comfortably, helping to release tight muscles while creating a deeply calming experience.

Benefits of Warm Bamboo Massage:

Relieves muscle tension and stiffness

Promotes deep relaxation and stress relief

Helps improve circulation

May reduce the appearance of puffiness and fluid retention

Supports the body’s natural detoxification processes

Helps improve flexibility and range of movement

Encourages a sense of balance and wellbeing

Leaves you feeling lighter, refreshed, and rejuvenated

Many clients also enjoy warm bamboo massage because the flowing techniques can help encourage healthy fluid movement throughout the body, creating benefits similar to the refreshed, lighter feeling often experienced after a lymphatic-style treatment.

The comforting warmth of the bamboo combined with therapeutic massage techniques makes this the perfect treatment for anyone looking to unwind, recharge, and give their body the care it deserves.

Today I visited the beautiful Malcolm Family Forest Bathing Garden at The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.

Reading the plaque, I learned that this award-winning garden, which won Best in Show at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024, was gifted by Muscular Dystrophy UK.

As a parent of a son living with muscular dystrophy, that made it especially meaningful for me. It was moving to see a place of such peace and beauty created through a charity that supports families like ours.

I was also fortunate to share the visit with two of my friends and clients, and it was lovely to experience the garden together, taking time to appreciate its beauty, tranquillity and the story behind it.

The garden is a wonderful legacy—offering comfort, reflection and a connection with nature for patients, families and visitors at the hospice. A reminder that even in the most difficult times, kindness and community can create something truly special.

Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this remarkable garden to GlasgowšŸ’
