Lip balm is often treated as an afterthought.
A product we apply constantly, but rarely stop to question.

Yet it is one of the few skincare products we inevitably consume in tiny amounts, applied before eating, drinking, talking, and throughout the day without much thought.

When I formulated the Kyūshi Lip Balm, I wanted it to do more than create a temporary glossy layer.

I wanted it to soften, comfort and protect the lips with a formula I would feel completely comfortable using repeatedly. Because the skin on the lips is thinner, more delicate, and has fewer natural oil glands, it can lose moisture quickly and become especially vulnerable to weather, heating, travel and dehydration.

So, as with every Kyūshi formula, the focus was not on making it feel impressive for a few minutes.

It was on creating a considered formula that earns its place one I often describe as clean enough to eat. Not because it is food, but because anything we use on the lips should be made with the understanding that some of it will inevitably be consumed.

A small daily essential, but one deserving of the same care and scrutiny as everything else we put on our skin.

The products we return to often become part of our daily rhythm.

Not because they’re new.

Not because they’re trending.

But because they’ve earned a place there.

When I formulate skincare, I’m not thinking about creating the next launch people can’t live without.

I’m thinking about creating products you’ll still be reaching for months and years from now.

Products that feel familiar.

Reliable.

Thoughtfully made.

Because I’ve always believed the most valuable skincare isn’t the one you constantly replace.

It’s the one you quietly come back to, day after day.

There’s something reassuring about finding products that simply fit into your life.

No noise.

No urgency.

Just a daily ritual that supports your skin.

Which skincare product have you returned to again and again?

If someone asked me where to start with Kyūshi, I’d never recommend seven products.

I’d recommend two.

After fifteen years preparing skin for film, television and editorial work, I’ve learnt that healthy skin rarely needs a more complicated routine.

It needs consistency.

That’s why Cleanse & Protect and Repair & Restore are the two products I recommend most often.

Together, they gently cleanse without disrupting the skin barrier, replenish the skin with ingredients it understands and support healthy skin over time.

The healthiest skin I see isn’t created by constantly changing products.

It’s created by choosing a few that work beautifully together and using them consistently.

Simple.

Thoughtful.

Designed to support the skin, not overwhelm it.

🤍

If you were starting your skincare routine from scratch, what would be the one thing you’d want it to do?

People often assume I spend my days looking for wrinkles or movement lines as I prefer to call them.

I don’t.

After fifteen years preparing skin for film, television and editorial work, the first things I notice are much quieter.

I notice whether skin looks comfortable.

Whether it recovers well.

Whether it has vitality.

Whether it feels resilient.

Movement lines tell the story of a life that’s been lived.

Healthy skin tells the story of how that life has been supported.

That’s why I’ve never believed healthy ageing is about looking younger.

I believe it’s about helping your skin continue to function beautifully through every stage of life.

✨ Save this for the next time you’re tempted to judge your skin by movement lines alone.

I’d love to know… what does healthy ageing mean to you?
