Conscious connected breathwork kinda day ❤️
🌿 Nourishing the mind, body and soul — The Alchemist way. 💚✨
Today was a beautiful reminder of how important it is to make time for ourselves. Spending the day with friends, sharing food, laughter and getting things off our chests. Sometimes, a good conversation with people who listen, understand and hold space for us is exactly what our nervous system needs. It's good to talk, to release what's weighing on us and to remember we're not meant to carry everything alone. 💚
And then there's movement. 🚲 Despite my health challenges and chronic pain, getting on my bike gives me a sense of freedom that's hard to put into words. Gentle movement, fresh air and being out in nature can do wonders for our wellbeing, and finding ways to move that work for our individual bodies is so important.
My beautiful ride home, watching the sunset, breathing consciously and gently bringing myself back into heart coherence was the perfect way to finish the day. 🌅
A little reminder that self-care isn't always about doing nothing. Sometimes it's talking, connecting, moving your body, breathing deeply, watching the sunset and allowing yourself to simply enjoy being alive.
Today, I'm grateful for friendship, freedom, movement, breath and the little things that make life feel beautiful. ✨

🌬️ Conscious Connected Breathwork
When stress, anxiety and overwhelm take over, our nervous system can become stuck in patterns of heightened alertness. Conscious Connected Breathwork uses intentional, continuous breathing to help us reconnect with our bodies, build awareness and support emotional regulation.
Breathing directly influences our autonomic nervous system, and research suggests breathwork can help reduce stress and anxiety while supporting a greater sense of calm and wellbeing. 💚

🌿 HERB OF THE WEEK 🌿
🔥 CINNAMON
Cinnamomum verum & Cinnamomum cassia
✨The Herb of Fire, Abundance & Sacred Attraction ✨
You probably have some sitting in your kitchen right now…
A little sprinkle over porridge.
Into an apple crumble.
Warmed through a chai.
Maybe even floating in a wintery cup of something delicious. 🤎
But cinnamon has a history that stretches far beyond the kitchen.
This week, we're meeting one of the world's most treasured aromatic spices — and discovering why this humble piece of tree bark has been valued for food, fragrance, traditional medicine and ritual for thousands of years.
---
🌳 YES… CINNAMON IS TREE BARK!
Here's our first little bit of plant magic…
Cinnamon comes from the inner bark of trees belonging to the Cinnamomum genus.
The bark is harvested, dried and naturally curls into those familiar cinnamon sticks.
Two important types you'll commonly encounter are:
🌿 Ceylon cinnamon — Cinnamomum verum
🌿 Cassia cinnamon — Cinnamomum cassia
They're related, but they're not identical plants — and they contain different amounts of their naturally occurring compounds.
---
🔥 THE WARMTH OF CINNAMON
Cinnamon is traditionally described as warming, aromatic and stimulating.
In traditional herbal practices, cinnamon has been used to support:
✨ Digestion
✨ Appetite
✨ Circulation and warmth
✨ Seasonal respiratory comfort
✨ Menstrual wellbeing
✨ General digestive comfort
Its distinctive warming sensation comes partly from its aromatic essential oils.
One of the best-known compounds is:
CINNAMALDEHYDE 🔥
This is largely responsible for cinnamon's unmistakable aroma and flavour.
It also contains other aromatic compounds and polyphenols, including compounds with antioxidant activity.
---
🫖 WAYS TO WORK WITH CINNAMON
And this is where cinnamon becomes wonderfully versatile…
☕ Add a cinnamon stick to tea or chai.
🍎 Add ground cinnamon to porridge, stewed apples or baking.
🍯 Infuse it into culinary syrups or warming drinks.
🌿 Combine it with other herbs and spices in seasonal blends.
🕯️ Use cinnamon symbolically in ritual, intention-setting and altar work.
And let's be honest…
There are few things more comforting than the smell of cinnamon slowly warming through the house. 🤎
---
🧙♀️ THE WITCHY SIDE OF CINNAMON
Now we're getting into the fiery stuff… 🔥
Across modern magical traditions and folklore-inspired practices, cinnamon is commonly associated with:
💰 Prosperity & abundance
❤️ Love & attraction
🛡️ Protection
🔥 Passion & vitality
✨ Success & manifestation
🌞 Confidence & personal power
Its symbolism is strongly connected with fire — warmth, movement, transformation and the energy to get things moving.
Cinnamon isn't shy energy.
It's not whispering:
"Maybe one day…"
It's more like:
🔥 "Come on then. Let's DO this."
😂
You can work with cinnamon symbolically by placing a cinnamon stick on your altar, incorporating it into a prosperity ritual, adding it to a manifestation jar, or simply using its scent as an anchor while setting an intention.
---
💰 CINNAMON & ABUNDANCE
One of the most popular modern magical associations with cinnamon is prosperity.
And I actually love looking at this symbolically rather than treating it as some kind of magical money guarantee.
Cinnamon represents warmth, movement, attraction and expansion.
So perhaps abundance isn't only about money.
Maybe abundance can be:
🌿 Time
🌿 Creativity
🌿 Friendship
🌿 Love
🌿 Opportunities
🌿 Energy
🌿 Joy
🌿 Connection
🌿 The courage to receive
What would happen if you stopped only asking:
"What can I get?"
…and started asking:
"What am I ready to receive?"
---
🌍 A SPICE WORTH MORE THAN GOLD
Cinnamon has been traded and valued for thousands of years.
It was prized in ancient cultures for its fragrance, culinary qualities and traditional uses, and became part of long-distance spice trading networks.
Its rarity and desirability helped give it a reputation as a luxury spice.
So the tiny jar sitting in your kitchen has a surprisingly epic history.
🌳 → 🔥 → 🌍 → 🫖
A piece of bark…
Carried across continents…
Becoming part of food, medicine, fragrance and ritual.
That's some serious plant history.
---
✨ DID YOU KNOW?
🌿 Cinnamon sticks are made from rolled pieces of dried inner bark.
🌿 Ceylon cinnamon is often called "true cinnamon."
🌿 Cassia tends to have a stronger, more intense flavour.
🌿 Cinnamon's distinctive smell comes largely from its aromatic essential oils.
🌿 Cinnamon trees belong to the same botanical family as avocado and bay laurel — Lauraceae.
🌿 And that beautiful curling shape of a cinnamon stick isn't manufactured — it's the bark naturally rolling as it dries.
Nature really does have style. 😂🌿
---
⚠️ A LITTLE SAFETY MAGIC
Cinnamon is wonderfully useful as a culinary spice, but more isn't necessarily better.
Cassia cinnamon can contain relatively high amounts of coumarin, a naturally occurring compound that can be harmful to the liver when consumed in excessive amounts over time.
Ceylon cinnamon generally contains much less coumarin.
So for everyday cooking, a normal culinary amount is very different from taking large amounts as a supplement.
And please don't swallow spoonfuls of dry cinnamon! 😳
Cinnamon essential oil is highly concentrated and can irritate or sensitise the skin, so it should never be used undiluted.
---
🌿 THE ALCHEMIST OF LIFE & BREATH REFLECTION
Cinnamon carries fire.
Not destructive fire.
🔥 The fire that warms.
🔥 The fire that transforms.
🔥 The fire that gives us courage to move.
And perhaps we all need a little more of that sometimes.
Maybe you've been waiting for the perfect moment.
Waiting until you're ready.
Waiting until you have enough energy.
Waiting until everything makes sense.
But sometimes…
You simply need to light the little flame.
One tiny spark.
One decision.
One breath.
One step.
🔥
What are you ready to bring back to life?
What desire have you been keeping warm beneath the surface?
And what would happen if you allowed yourself to receive as freely as you give?
Cinnamon reminds us:
You are allowed to want.
You are allowed to create.
You are allowed to receive.
You are allowed to burn brightly.
So this week…
Bring a little cinnamon into your kitchen.
Into your rituals.
Into your senses.
And maybe, just maybe…
into your fire. 🔥🤎🌿
