TRANSFORMED BY FIRE: THE EXHIBITION
Our Shanghai store is presenting an exhibition with a selection of works by Bing Ding alongside photography by João Da Sousa, each offering their own interpretation of the earth.

Shaped by hand and fired in a wood-burning kiln by master artisan Yu Hezhu, a limited collection of teaware, soap trays and incense holders is available to purchase exclusively at Perfumer H Shanghai.

BING DING FOR PERFUMER H
In June, Lyn travelled to Jingdezhen, China, to visit Bing Ding, a wood-fired porcelain kiln atelier. Here, contemporary minimalism meets traditional craftsmanship, reflecting a shared appreciation for simplicity, material and the beauty of the handmade.

Inspired by the elements Bing (sun-fire) and Ding (moon-fire), the space embodies a sense of harmony: a balance between opposing yet complementary forces.

Immersed in the process, Lyn followed the journey of earth through fire, from the raw clay to the flames that transform it into a vessel.

From the Atlas Mountains to Jingdezhen, the same elemental energy takes shape twice: once as scent, once as vessel.

A limited selection of teaware, teacups, soap trays and incense holders has been created exclusively for Perfumer H Shanghai to purchase. Each piece is handmade and fired at temperatures exceeding 1,200°C.

A TRIBUTE TO THE LAND
To explore the many facets of earth in its most primal state, Lyn
travelled to Morocco’s Haouz Valley and the High Atlas Mountains
with her longtime photographer and creative partner, João de
Sousa.

The journey informed both the fragrance and the visual narrative,
Reflecting Lyn’s enduring connection to nature.

Clay represents one of the earth’s most fundamental elements: a
source of life and the foundation from which many of Lyn’s raw
materials emerge.

BAKED CLAY
“I created CLAY in honour of the great Earth we live on and all the beauty it brings to us. I had in mind the sun beating down on the earth: the warmth, the colour, the terracotta baked by the sun.

At the heart of the fragrance is a Baked Clay accord, an idea I explored extensively with my team throughout its development. The warmth of charred woods and sandalwood evokes the soft sweetness of clay, while Ambroxan brings a distinctive minerality. A touch of Maltol intensifies the feeling of clay being fired and baked, adding depth and texture to the composition.

Orange Flower absolute, one of my favourite ingredients, threads through the fragrance, illuminating and energising it like the sun…

It’s a fragrance that ignites curiosity and warmth. I love its beautiful, lingering sillage as it gently travels past your nose when someone wears it. The trace it leaves on clothing the next day is like a gentle shadow of its elegance…” - Lyn

Based in London, Troy Town is known for its experimental approach to ceramics, combining traditional techniques with a fascination for clay and the transformations that take place during firing. Each piece is unique, with variations in colour, texture and glaze emerging through the firing process and giving every vessel its own character.

TROY TOWN FOR PERFUMER H
To celebrate the launch of CLAY Eau de Parfum, Aaron Angell, founder of East London ceramics studio Troy Town, has created his interpretation of the brand’s signature hand-blown bottle.

Using the original hand-blown bottle’s weight as his starting point, Aaron created 100 unique clay vessels inspired by the traditional Japanese Tokkuri, a ceramic carafe used to hold and pour liquids, recognised for its generous body and narrow neck.

Each piece is finished with a reduction firing and a Midwestern-style Shino glaze — a classic, highly sought-after ceramic glaze developed in 16th-century Japan during the Momoyama period.

Its high-alumina, low-silica composition causes the glaze to pull away from the clay during firing, creating beautifully textured surfaces that range from milky white to warm orange, making every piece entirely unique.
