What does a First Assistant actually do backstage at a Haute Couture show? 😊

Most people only see the finished runway looks, but there’s so much happening behind the scenes.

As First Assistant to Andrew Gallimore for the Iris van Herpen Official show, my role was to keep everything running as smoothly as possible. From preparing and organising the makeup stations, making sure products and tools were always where they needed to be, supporting the team throughout the day, helping coordinate last-minute requests, communicating between departments, and solving unexpected challenges, every minute counts backstage.

It’s a role that requires organisation, adaptability, attention to detail and staying calm under pressure and it’s one of my favourite parts of working Fashion Week.
