Just letting you know👋🏽

Microneedling is such a brilliant treatment for all over skin health, most people can have this treatment which is also another reason why I love it so much. As you can see I have a darker skin and it works perfectly as long as I have prepped it correctly first.

I’d love to hear your Microneedling experiences?

Microneedling creates thousands of tiny channels in your skin, so good infection control practices are absolutely essential!

Look for a properly disinfected treatment area, clean supplies opened specifically for your treatment, protective barriers on equipment to help prevent cross contamination, and a brand new, single use needle cartridge opened for you. Your skin should also be thoroughly cleansed and appropriately prepared before treatment begins.

The treatment might start when the device touches your skin, but safe practice starts long before that.

Great skin starts with understanding it, then doing the right things for it consistently, good homecare, and tried and tested treatments done properly.

Relaxation doesn’t take away from what we’re trying to achieve with your skin. You can absolutely have both.

What do you think? Any positive skin story’s to share ?

During puberty, rising androgen activity is a driver behind teenage acne. Androgens are hormones that become more active around puberty and can stimulate our sebaceous glands to produce more oil.

But acne is multifactorial. Genetics, increased oil production, a build-up of skin cells within the follicle, C. acnes bacteria and inflammation can all play a part. Diet may influence it too.

You may hear that teenagers get spots because they eat too much sugar. It’s not quite that simple. A high-glycaemic diet, basically lots of foods and drinks that repeatedly spike our blood sugar, may increase pathways in the body that can influence oil production and acne. Sugar alone doesn’t cause acne, however, too much sugar can also contribute to inflammation in the body, and when we do break out, we want to try and reduce inflammation.

And really, whether your teenager has acne or not, this is about teaching them how to look after their skin. Keep it simple. Gentle cleansing, supporting healthy cell turnover and, most importantly, looking after that skin barrier. More products don’t necessarily mean better skin, and overdoing it can actually cause more irritation.

And if acne is becoming an obstacle for you or your teenager, physically or emotionally, please seek professional advice from a skin specialist. No two skins are the same, and neither is everyone’s acne. The best thing you can do is get the right advice rather than keep adding more products.

And if you’re unsure where to start, or you’d just like a little more guidance when it comes to your teenager’s skin, my DMs are always open. I’m more than happy to help.

Those stubborn little white bumps on your face… let’s talk milia

Milia removal using electrolysis is such a simple yet effective treatment.

After a consultation, the treatment itself can take as little as 10 minutes, depending on how many milia you have.

Then it’s just a case of letting your skin do its thing. Milia can take up to around 4 weeks to fully clear following treatment, although very often they disappear within just a few days just like my lovely clients here.

So if you’ve been putting up with those little white bumps and wondering what you can do about them, you don’t have to!

DM me if you would like to know more.
