Not all loc methods are created equal—and swapping between them randomly can actually do more harm than good! 🛑

Swipe to see what DOESN’T work and what will !

While both methods work well on their own, combining them is a recipe for long-term loc damage. Interlocking creates a much tighter knot than palm rolling, which leads to weak ‘hourglass’ patterns with random thick and thin areas along your locs. Even worse, switching methods—especially with different locticians—can create permanent holes and pockets right in the middle of your hair.

See what method suits you after reading the others ➡️

✅ Some pros to Interlocking:

• Long-Lasting Maintenance: Interlocked roots hold longer than traditional Retwists lasting up to 2–3 months between maintenance sessions.
• No Products Needed: You don’t have to use gel & can be product buildup free.
• Water friendly & Sweat proof: It’s ideal for active individuals, frequent exercisers, or swimmers.

❌ The Cons & Risks of Interlocking:

• Risk of Thinning & Tension: If interlocked too tightly or done too often, the constant pull on the follicle can lead to root thinning and traction alopecia.
• Holes & Split Roots: Incorrect entry angles during retightening can slice the root in half, creating a permanent hole or Y-fork in the loc. Please be sure to check your Loctician’s work thoroughly before sitting down.

It isn’t always necessary but crochet can help with some repairs on locs that have been interlocked such as holes or the Y-fork that may form from incorrect technique . 📌

✅ Pros to Retwist / Palm Roll:

• Thicker / Fuller appearance: It allows the hair to swell to its fullest potential based on the density of your hair.
• Can be worn when not done : I always say to clients if you don’t mind that natural fluffy look on days where your retwist has faded away then this is for you.
• Easier to combine or undo: Because the internal fibers aren’t tightly knotted, palm-rolled locs can be combed out much more easily if you ever decide to unlock your hair in the future.

❌ The Cons & Risks of Palm Rolling:

• Slippage & Unraveling: It is sim

The standard you don’t see is the standard that matters most. ✨

When you sit in my chair, you’re enjoying the final result—but behind every appointment is a whole list of silent steps taken to keep you safe, comfortable, and cared for before you even arrive.

I never, ever re-use a cape between clients. The moment you take a seat, you get a fresh, clean gown every single time. Honestly, if I ever ran out of clean capes, I’d rather do your locs without a gown than hand you something another client just wore! Cross-contamination is where I draw the line. 📌

Client safety and hygiene are non-negotiable. After every appointment, my station, chair, and personal accessories (down to product bottles and gel bands) are completely disinfected.

I strictly enforce a single-use policy per service for styling tools—no comb or clip is ever shared between clients. At the end of the day , all tools undergo a mandatory 10-minute soak in Barbicide to ensure full sterilization before their next use. 🧼

It might seem like a small detail, but I always ask about allergies before you even sit in my chair. You never truly know how severe a reaction can be, and when it comes to your scalp and health, prevention is everything. Safe care starts before the service even begins. 🛡️✨

Sweeping up isn’t just about keeping things neat—it’s a safety standard. Especially after services like invisible twists or extension work, leaving hair on the floor is a serious trip hazard. Every client deserves a spotless, hazard-free station from the second they walk in. 🧹🙂‍↕️

Simply only the best for my client🤭, Nothing further!

Washing and sanitizing my hands right before touching your scalp or skin is a complete non-negotiable. I could never risk causing an infection or reaction just because I skipped a simple hand wash—plus, honestly, the thought of not doing it is just plain gross! 🤣 Always washing hands between clients, no exceptions. 🧼🤝🏽
