Failed my way here âď¸đ
Every wrong turn, every episode of burnout and every thing I got completely wrong as a late diagnosed neurodivergent artist and therapist⌠but all what made me who I am and why I created Rocket Art!
I never would have realised 10 years ago that failing to âfit inâ was just unmasking and learning how to be me instead, and I prefer that!
So hereâs your permission to do the same, be unapologetically loud & proud about everything that makes you UNIQUELY you.
Because thatâs exactly why I make bold, colourful hand-drawn art for the people who are exhausted from shrinking themselves.
I help people embrace their obsessions, passions and big emotions by drawing:
đ Characters you're âtoo oldâ to love.
đ Pets you're âtoo attachedâ to.
đ Music thatâs a bit âtoo loudâ.
đ Feelings that challenge systems, make people uncomfortable & donât need fixing.
I want my art to be a rejection of beige minimalism, AI slop and whatever ânormalâ is.
If youâre someone whoâs chronically passionate, done with apologising for being âtoo muchâ and donât want to blend into spaces never built for you - youâre more than welcome to stick around here đ
Rainy really does get it đđÂ
These are the things she got right đ I learned these lessons myself as a late diagnosed neurodivergent person and I think many fellow Neurodivergent people can see themselves in this too!
Rainy from Death Stranding 2 was basically called a witch for something she was born and was rejected until somebody eventually saw her differently.
As a Neurodivergent artist and therapist, I see how her story parallels the neurodivergent experience so much (and it's probably why I loved her character so much!). If you can relate you know yourself about the decades of masking and the big emotions that made everyone uncomfortable. How exhausting it is trying to suppress something you were simply born with!
The worldâs done a very good job of convincing neurodivergent people that everything about them is a problem to fix. Rainy's story is a reminder that's not the whole truth. Not exactly a superpower, just a truth the world would rather you didn't notice.
Sometimes video game characters make us feel seen and I love that đĽ°
This Rainy design will be available as stickers coming soon! And if this resonates, do stick around to help a Neurodivergent artist resist the BS narratives pushed on us to define my own ânormalâ đ
