On behalf of the bride, her makeup artist, her hairdresser, and anyone else who is trying to keep the wedding morning running smoothly… please, please, please hear me out!

I have seen so many incredible, thoughtful gifts presented to the bride on her wedding morning. Photo albums, Bespoke poems, Scrapbooks. Framed collages. Little pieces of memories, love and friendship that have clearly taken so much time and thought to create. And I completely understand why you want to give them to her.

The love between a bride and the people she has chosen to have around her on her wedding morning is deep. And the emotions can be HUGE. But there is something I really want you to consider…

When you present these gifts during hair and makeup, it can unintentionally cause a few problems. I've seen flawless makeup put to the test before the bride has even made it down the aisle. I've seen people get emotional, hot and flustered, which isn't exactly ideal when we're trying to create beautiful, long-lasting hair and makeup.

And, most importantly, the timeline has now stopped.

What was supposed to be a 5-minute moment can easily become 10, 20 minutes or more because nobody wants to rush such a special moment.

And we don't want to interrupt you.
We don't want to say “Sorry, but we need to carry on!”
We don't want to ruin the moment.

So we stop, we wait, we let you have that time together…

…and then later, when the wedding morning is running behind, it can very easily look like hair and makeup are the reason you're late. Sometimes, we're not. Sometimes, we've simply had time taken away from the schedule because of moments like this.

So please, where possible, have these beautiful moments either the evening before or first thing in the morning, before hair and makeup have started. That way, everyone can take their time. You can sit together, look through everything properly, read the poems, laugh, cry, share memories and enjoy the moment without watching the clock. Once hair and makeup begins, we can keep things calm, relaxed and on track, exactly how we want your wedding morning to feel.

Bridal Hairstylist 2026! I’m still in shock!

After around 13 years away from the wedding industry, this feels like an incredible way to celebrate jumping back in - and honestly, I couldn’t be more grateful.

Thank you so, so much to every single couple who nominated me for this ♥️

I put all of my energy, love and experience into every single booking I take on, so this nomination alone feels like a big nod that I’m doing something right… that it’s being noticed, and that it’s appreciated.

It’s such a privilege to spend those early hours with a bride and her favourite people, helping them get ready for one of the most important days of their lives. I genuinely never take that opportunity for granted.

And this summer has been a particularly challenging one for me. I’ve continued working through every booking while dealing with a serious eye condition. I still showed up for every 5am start, calmed nerves, dried flowers, helped brides into their dresses… and, somewhere in between all of that, I did some hair too 😂😂 There were definitely times when I wasn’t my usual ball of energy, but I still gave every single wedding everything I had.

So receiving that email from Your Scottish Wedding to say my efforts had been acknowledged… well, I went through all the emotions - Shock. Excitement. Relief. Disbelief. Pride. And, of course, the usual sprinkling of imposter syndrome 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

This is down to you guys, and I hope you know just how much that means to me.

I’m off to bawl my eyes out a little more now because apparently writing this has set me off all over again! 😂😭
