Walking past cottage’s which appear to yawn as you pass, you will come to the village inn. Dating back to 13th century, this old Inn is spacious with a pleasant conservatory and garden. Sitting in the garden you may see the odd chicken walking by. Popular with diners and those who enjoy the local brew. It is a venue where you can relax, is it haunted? There is a feeling that it may be. There is a warm welcome to all who enter via the low doorway.

The Rubblestone Inn, Widecombe in the moor, Dartmoor

This Inn was an 18th century farmhouse converted to an inn in 1823. Its name comes from a granite rock nearby. It is said the inn was given a license after a nearby inn was burnt down by wives of tin miners who were fed up with their husbands spending money on b**r.

One of the smallest pubs in the country, it has an atmosphere all of its own. Sitting in the adjacent garden in the early autumn sunshine while breathing in the sweet moorland air is a pleasure not to be missed.

Do you know where me husband be
This time ‘ee got home for tea
‘aving a b**r with a ‘appy grin
‘ee be ‘ere at the Rubblestone Inn.

Bears lake inn, lake, sourton. Devon.

Charming and unique, this old inn brims full of character. It is said, the bar area dates back to being a 13th century longhouse in which animals were kept at one end. I am pleased to say, the animals are no longer there. The inn offers a wide range of beverages and cuisine along with rooms in which you may stay. Origins of the name of the inn appear to be a little vague, but at least it is a talking point for those who visit. The inn is near a location of an English civil war battle, it’s beautiful exterior and a very friendly welcome you receive from the staff, makes this venue a pleasure to visit

Broadsands Torbay

Somewhat hidden away, this bay has a charm of its own. Lined by rows of beach huts huddled together that gaze out to sea which reminds you of houses on a monopoly board. No doubt they have been residents here since Victorian days, they add a flavour of past times. Overlooking the bay is a viaduct which carries steam trains running from Paignton to Kingswear, another on of I. k. Brunei’s construction.
