In Little Woodham I made tallow soap over the fire

Soap making 17thC style.
Beef and pork tallow, boiled for 4.5 hours on fire on Saturday.
Yesterday I washed all the big pots with it and it worked greatly!
It removed the black muck from my hands too and left my skin soft.
Highly recommended!
The blocks are roughly 1lbs each and it would have been in the 1600'
Turned out a bit brittle because the beef tallow content is higher. Pork fat is softer that is why it is important to balance the two well.
Anyway, proved again, the old 1000 years old tradition still stand strong amongst the fancy modern equivalents.

What would they say if I put up my 17thC soap making demo? 🤣 not like I ever asked anyone to go naked and try the soap on the spot 🤣

Tomorrow is a Craft Day in Little Woodham 1642 village in Gosport.
That means you can watch/talk to traditional crafting people and learn about them.
This also mean that Blue Leaf Soap will be there with huge discounts as I am clearing stocks to prepare for Christmas.

As you already know, Blue Leaf also targets zero waste. Scraps produced during soap making, are mixed into fresh soap base and sold for a cheaper price, given away to people in need.
There are many way to use small scraps around the house.

With a sad heart I made the decision of not returning to Farmers Market from March.
Well, in fact most of other markets too has to be sacrificed.
Unfortunately, 2022 didn't make any money and I was working for free. I cannot continue it like that.
