A routine has been shown to improve well-being and reduce stress and support healthy behaviours. When something becomes a routine it embeds as a habit and becomes something we start to do automatically - like brushing your teeth.
A morning routine also helps with a sense of purpose, provides a bit of calm before the day starts that stays with you throughout the day.
Mine consists of:
š¦Filtered water (to aid detox after sleep)
š§š¼āāļø Movement if some kind - normally yoga or walking first thing
š Supplements - these vary through the year, through my cycle and depending on how Iām feeling
āØMorning light - getting outside as close to sunrise as you can supports healthy sleep
š Reading and/or journaling to stimulate my brain and to help me plan and visualise the day ahead.
And I always try to avoid my phone because as soon as that gets picked up time just disappears š³

We said goodbye to this beautiful lady on Sunday evening. Nana, our very special girl decided it was her time to leave us. I'm trying to smile more than cry; she's left us with lots of precious memories and I will be forever grateful that she chose us.
She showed me so much - how to be fully present, how to always be optimistic, how to rest and how to be loyal and trusting. She really was a wise soul.
I don't know how to thank Ashely from Atypical Pet Crematorium and Sarah from Paws to Sleep enough - just knowing you were there to help her last moments in this life and help us make the hardest decision ever really was an incredible support to us all this weekend. You made it possible for her to pass over at home, surrounded by love, dignified, calmly and gently. You treated her and us with love, compassion and true empathy and thanks to your service we were able to bring her home the next day to be back with us while we grieve together - thank you.

Today I need to just stop! Iām absolutely rubbish at it - especially when my to do list(s) and inboxes are overflowing! Butā¦I know that if I can take a day to pause and give myself permission to rest Iāll have more energy to get started on the lists and emails tomorrow.
Iāve learnt a lot about myself in the last few years and what I need to recharge! I used to think it meant actually doing nothing but that doesnāt really work for me (but it might for you and thatās great!) - instead for me itās reading, starting with this pile of magazines, cooking nice different things, a long walk exploring somewhere new, yoga, family board games and movie time later.
It isnāt unpacking house move boxes, setting up utilities, changing address stuff, working, organising, tidying, watching Tv I donāt have any interest in, scrolling my phone, and most importantly itās absolutely not giving myself a hard time for ānot doing enoughā !
What do you need to recharge???

If Ann Frank can believe this surely so can I - but wow itās hard sometimes š
I know when I do believe this my life feels better, Iām calmer, less anxious, more positive - all things that are good for my physical and mental health!
Can you believe that there is good in all this week? Itās not for them itās for you!

Iāve been listening to a lot of this wonderful man recently
Itās so helpful and inspiring, life really is a miracle, weāre not here very long. Maybe some of the āstuffā we worry about isnāt quite as big as it feels at the time.
