🌡️Extreme Heat Warning 🌡️

The Met Office has issued an Amber Extreme Heat warning for our area, with temperatures expected to reach the low-to-mid 30s°C this week and staying uncomfortably warm overnight.

Please take extra care, especially if you are elderly, pregnant, have a long-term health condition, or care for young children.

✅ Stay hydrated — drink water regularly, even if not thirsty

✅ Pop in and stock up on sun protection — we've a full range in, including Nivea, Avène, E45, Eucerin, Bioderma, La Roche-Posay and Garnier Ambre Solaire, plus after-sun and aloe vera gels to soothe sunburn

✅ Keep indoor spaces cool — close curtains, use fans, ventilate in early morning/evening

✅ Avoid the sun between 11am–3pm if possible

✅ Check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours and relatives

✅ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion: headache, dizziness, confusion, excessive sweating

💊 If you take regular medication, some can affect your body's ability to regulate temperature, or may need to be stored below a certain temperature. Pop in and ask us if you're unsure — we're happy to help.

If you or someone else shows signs of heatstroke (confusion, hot skin that's stopped sweating, rapid pulse), call 999.

📍 Open: 9:00–13:00 and 14:00–18:00

Meningitis Awareness – Know the Signs, Act Fast

With recent cases being reported, we want to help keep our community informed and safe.

Meningitis is a serious infection that can become life-threatening very quickly. It’s important to recognise the symptoms early and seek urgent medical help if you’re concerned.

🚨Common symptoms include:
• High temperature (fever)
• Severe headache
• Neck stiffness
• Sensitivity to light
• Nausea or vomiting
• Drowsiness or difficulty waking
• Cold hands and feet, limb pain, pale or mottled skin

🚨In babies and young children, also look out for:
• A high-pitched cry
• Refusing feeds
• Floppy or unresponsive behaviour
• A bulging soft spot on the head

⏱️ Don’t wait for a rash – it doesn’t always appear.
