THE EFFUTU DREAM: HEALTH SECTOR

The foundation of success is good health: that is the substratum fortune; it is also the basis of happiness. A person cannot accumulate a fortune when he is sick. (P.T Barnum). The following are achievements of Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin with regards to the health sector;

● The Winneba municipal hospital has seen an expansion of its Theatre.

● A new Neonatal clinic has been built at the Effutu municipal hospital.

● The Maternity Ward at the municipal hospital has also received a facelift.

● An ambulance has been donated to the Municipal hospital to ease their emergency response to health calls.

● Fifty(50) electrical beds have been donated to hospitals across the municipality.

● Donation of an Incubator and Breath care Positive Airway Pressure Units (PAP)to the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Winneba Municipal Hospital.

••• *Shifting our attention from the municipal hospital, let's take a look at other impacts in the health sector*.

● A Health Center has been constructed at Wonsum to serve the immediate health needs of the fisherfolk.

● Gyahadze has received its own fair share of the Clinic. This Clinic is intended to serve the immediate health needs of the rurals

● Nsuekyir CHPS compound has seen the donation of hospital equipments.

● Kojo Beedu Health Center(George Kwame Quansah Health Center) Commissioned.

● Atekyedo Health Center Commissioned.

● Atekyedo Health Directorate Commissioned.

● Woarabeba Health Center Commissioned.

● Health Center at Roman School (Hon Samuel Owusu Agyei Health Center) Commissioned.

● Akosua Village Health Center Commissioned.

● New Winneba CHPS compound has seen the donation of hospital equipments.

● Children's Hospital at Gyangyanadze 40% completed.
The construction of the Regional Children’s Hospital which when completed would be the first of its kind in the Region, offering specialist medical care for children and young people up to age 18 years.

● Penkye CHPS Compound Commissioned.

● Polyclinic between Osbornpanyin and Ataitu 48% completed.

● Over time, the generosity and humanity in our MP has been shown in the Support of Medical Bills for constituents with the need for medical attention.

● NHIS cards have been made cost-free for 10,000 people and still counting.

● Hon. Alexander Afenyo- Markin, has committed an amount of One Million Ghana cedis (Ghc1million) to support Mumbies Foundation, a non-governmental organization, to fight Hepatitis B within the municipality.

Today I led the good people of Effutu in collaboration with Zoomlion and Ghana Fire Service to clean our environment prior to the 65th Independence Day Anniversary to be hosted in Cape Coast, Central Region. Our focal points were Winneba Junction, Winneba Central Market, Copa Junction and Nkwantanan.

Keeping our environments clean will prevent outbreak of communicable diseases. Besides being an eyesore, litter can disrupt the ecosystem of our environment because it can attract many different insects and rodents that can carry diseases.
Owing to this I urge all Effutu residents to make cleanliness a habit and not feel the Assembly is imposing on them.

I'm much grateful to our Honorable Assembly Members, Effutu Education Director - Mrs. Mabel Judith Micah, Effutu NPP Chairman - Mr. Theophilus Kojo Halm, his 1st Vice Chairman - Mr. Kofi Kwayera, Communications Team led by Mr. Ellis Otabil, the Media Team led by Mr. Francis Bolley and the good people of Effutu who joined to make this clean up exercise a success.
