ASM-UTG STUDENT CHAPTER SUCCESSFULLY HOLDS SEMINAR ON ACADEMIC RESEARCH & BUILDING A PROFESSIONAL CV

The American Society for Microbiology - University of The Gambia Student Chapter (ASM-UTG SC) successfully hosted a seminar titled Academic Research & Building a Professional Curriculum Vitae (CV) at SMAHS, Banjul.

The seminar aimed at _empowering students with research skills and professional CV writing_ to enhance their academic and career prospects.

The session brought together students, researchers, and aspiring professionals for an engaging morning of learning, networking and practical guidance

The ASM-UTG SC extends sincere appreciation to the speakers, Dr.Bajinka and Mr. Lamarana Jallow who delivered insightful presentations and shared practical experiences on navigating academia, research, and career development.

The interactive session was well-attended and received positive feedback from participants who described it as timely, practical, and inspiring.

ASM-UTG SC Celebrates a Global Achievement

The American Society for Microbiology - UTG Student Chapter (ASM-UTG SC) is proud to celebrate and congratulate Mr. Lamarana Jallow, one of the founding member of the American Society for Microbiology, who also serves as the ASM Young Ambassador to The Gambia, on his remarkable achievement as the recipient of the 2026 ASM Young Ambassador Excellence Award.

Mr. Jallow was selected amongst more than 130 ambassadors representing more than 100 countries across the globe, a recognition that highlights his outstanding service, dedication, and contributions toward advancing microbiology and scientific engagement. This prestigious award was presented by the American Society for Microbiology in recognition of his exceptional commitment and impact as a Young Ambassador.

As part of this exceptional honor, Mr. Jallow will be recognized during the ASM Microbe Meeting, the world’s largest international gathering of microbiologists and infectious disease scientists. He has also been invited to speak during the ASM Young Ambassadors Retreat and will participate as an honored guest during the ASM Ambassadors’ Reception.

This achievement is not only a proud moment for the ASM Gambia Chapter, but also a significant milestone for The Gambia and the scientific community at large. It reflects the growing contributions and visibility of Gambian scientists on the global stage and serves as an inspiration to many young professionals and aspiring scientists across the country.

On behalf of the Executive Committee and the entire membership of the ASM-UTG SC, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Lamarana Jallow for this well-deserved recognition. We wish him continued success and even greater achievements in all his future endeavors.
