Thank you to the Longford Leader for attending our Defibrillator launch on Valentine's Day and raising awareness about our group and it's goals.
The support so far has been great and every little bit goes a long way, be it likes and shares to raise awareness or even donations to our idoante page to help roll out our next Defibrillator.
We really appreciate all the support 😀

❤️ DEFIBRILLATOR LAUNCH AT MOLLAGHANS ❤️
We are absolutely delighted to have the launch of our first 24 hour, public accessible Defibrillator, at Mollaghans today, on Valentine's Day!
We are extremely grateful for all the support so far and to launch our first Defibrillator in such a short space of time since our group formed is brilliant. Despite the clear evidence that defibrillators save lives, many cardiac arrests still occur without one nearby. Having publicly accessible defibrillators in key locations across Longford Town will give people the best possible chance of survival when every second counts!
We really couldn't do it without your support, as it will help us bring these life saving devices into service and build a safer community for everyone!
Every like, share and donation is really appreciated and the link for our idonate is below 👇🏻

A fantastic achievement by the Longford Variety Group to support so many local groups and we were delighted to be presented with our cheque, as every donation brings us closer towards our goal of having 24 hour accessible and well maintained defibrillators throughout Longford Town!
We are overwhelmed with the support and donations to date in such a short space of time and we would like to thank everyone who has contributed and spread the word so far.

The Longford Town Defibrillator Group was established in October 2025 by local volunteers who want to ensure there are 24 hour accessible and well maintained defibrillators throughout Longford Town.
There are currently two defibrillators that the group has ownership of. Our first objective is to get these defibrillators fully operational and accessible to the public as soon as possible.
To do this we need;
1) New defibrillator pads for both units at an estimated cost of €120 to €150 per unit
2) A new defibrillator battery for one unit at an estimated cost of €150 to €250
3) A heated outdoor cabinet for one unit at an estimated cost of €600 to €800
4) Electrical wiring and professional fitting estimated at €300 to €500
5) Servicing which will cost approximately €300 for two units.
This brings the initial setup cost to approximately €1,650 to €2,200.
Despite the clear evidence that defibrillators save lives, many cardiac arrests still occur without one nearby. Having publicly accessible defibrillators in key locations across Longford Town will give people the best possible chance of survival when every second counts!
In Ireland, almost 3,000 people suffer an out of hospital cardiac arrest every year (HSE, 2024). Each minute without defibrillation reduces survival by up to 10 percent (European Resuscitation Council, 2021), and early access to a defibrillator before emergency services arrive can almost double a person’s chance of survival (Irish Heart Foundation, 2024; Nichol et al., 2010).
Your support will help us bring these life saving devices into service and build a safer community for everyone!
Thank you for your support,

Meet Longford Town Defibrillator Group’s committee.
Pictured left to right: Michael Lynch (Assistant Secretary),Emma Reid (Secretary), Genny Casey (Chairperson), Vincent Casey (Assistant Treasurer), Ethan Fitzpatrick (Treasurer) and Pauric Fitzpatrick was elected to the position of PRO.
It’s great to have a committee now elected to address the issue of the defibrillator that was removed from the Axis Centre because it’s not operational at the moment.
Longford Town Defibrillator Group has now taken ownership of this defibrillator and the one at Mollaghan’s Furniture Shop.
It will take funds to buy a heated cabinet for the Axis centre, batteries and pads for both defibrillators.
We hope to have our account open in the coming days so if any businesses or individuals would like to make a donation to their new defibrillator group it would be very much appreciated.
