The clocks haven’t even changed yet and suddenly 7pm feels like midnight. 😴
The darker evenings arrive and our usual routines can quietly disappear:
The evening walk gets cancelled.
Salad starts looking deeply unappealing.
The sofa becomes emotionally supportive.
And “I’ll start again in spring” begins sounding perfectly reasonable. 😂
But winter doesn’t need your summer routine—it needs a winter version of it.
Try this:
🌤️ Move earlier when you can
Take a walk at lunchtime, park farther away or get outside during daylight instead of relying on evening motivation.
🥣 Swap cold meals for warm ones
Soups, stews, curries, porridge and traybakes can be colourful, nourishing and brilliant for healthy weight management.
🛒 Keep easy ingredients ready
Frozen vegetables, tinned beans, eggs, cooked lentils and homemade freezer portions can rescue you from the nightly “what on earth are we eating?” conversation.
🫖 Keep drinking
Thirst doesn’t vanish because it’s cold. Swap some chilled water for warm water or unsweetened herbal teas.
💡 Brighten your mornings
Open the curtains immediately, get outside when possible and avoid spending the whole day in dim rooms.
🛏️ Respect the earlier tiredness
A consistent bedtime can be far more helpful than fighting sleep with snacks, scrolling and another episode.
You don’t need to do more this winter.
You simply need to adapt what already works.
Which habit disappears first when the evenings get darker—walking, cooking, drinking water or leaving the sofa? Tell us below 👇
Save this as your winter routine reminder and share it with your favourite hibernation partner.
You’ve got this.
We’ve got you.

Winter breakfasts just got a serious glow-up. 💜✨
Our Plum, Kiwi & Pomegranate Compote is warm, jewel-coloured and bursting with fabulous flavour—sweet plums, sharp kiwi, juicy pomegranate and a cosy little kick from ginger, cinnamon and cardamom.
And it makes almost everything taste better:
🥣 Spoon it over warm porridge
🥥 Swirl it through coconut or almond yoghurt and granola
🌱 Add it to chia pudding
🥞 Pile it onto our fluffy oaty pancakes—recipe coming soon!
🍎 Enjoy it warm as a simple pudding
🥄 Or eat it straight from the jar… we won’t tell
It’s not just delicious either:
💜 Plums provide fibre to support healthy digestion
🥝 Kiwi brings vitamin C and natural freshness
❤️ Pomegranate adds colourful plant compounds called polyphenols
🔥 Ginger, cinnamon and cardamom create warmth and plenty of flavour
🍁 Maple syrup adds just enough sweetness without drowning the fruit
It’s the sort of recipe that makes a grey winter morning feel far more interesting—and helps turn an ordinary breakfast into something you’ll actually look forward to.
Make one batch, keep it in the fridge and thank yourself all week.

Comfort food doesn’t have to come with a food coma. 🍲
It’s getting colder. The curtains are closing earlier. And frankly, a cold lettuce leaf isn’t doing it for us.
We want something warm, delicious and easy — preferably with leftovers, because tomorrow’s dinner shouldn’t require another committee meeting.
Your Bodytype’s idea of comfort might look like this…
💚 Nikki: A chicken, mushroom and leek stew with olive oil, herbs and plenty of vegetables. A gorgeous bowl without automatically adding bread or pasta.
💚 Kate: A hearty lentil and vegetable cottage pie with a golden potato topping. Plenty of variety, plenty of flavour, and a proper sit-down dinner.
💚 Maya: A warming chicken and vegetable curry with cauliflower rice. In our Bodytype approach, this keeps the protein separate from a starchy carbohydrate side.
💚 Lilly: Creamy roasted squash sauce stirred through gluten-free pasta with spinach. Blend the squash with a little unsweetened almond milk — creamy doesn’t have to mean cream!
💚 Jess: A fragrant coconut chicken soup with courgette, spinach, ginger and lime. Warming, grain-free, gluten-free and dairy-free.
Five bowls. Plenty of comfort. No complicated cooking required.
Use frozen vegetables, make extra portions and let the freezer take a shift. You don’t need to cook from scratch every single evening to eat well.
Comfort food doesn’t have one recipe.
Which bowl would you choose — Nikki, Kate, Maya, Lilly or Jess? Tell us below, and save this for the next “what’s for dinner?” moment. 👇

“Detox tea” isn’t one tea—and it certainly isn’t a magic bag that pressure-washes your liver. 🫖😂
Herbal teas have been used across traditional cultures for thousands of years, but every herb has its own properties and purpose.
That means the tea you choose should depend on what support you’re actually looking for:
🌿 Peppermint — traditionally used after meals for digestive comfort
🔥 Ginger — warming and often chosen when digestion feels sluggish
🌼 Chamomile — calming and ideal as part of an evening wind-down
🌱 Fennel — traditionally used for bloating and digestive discomfort
🍃 Nettle — a mineral-rich herbal infusion traditionally used to support normal urinary elimination
🌳 Dandelion root — traditionally used as a bitter digestive herb
🍋 Lemon balm — gentle, calming and lovely when stress is affecting digestion
🌺 Hibiscus — sharp, refreshing and a colourful way to drink more fluid
But here’s the important bit:
Your liver and kidneys already perform the body’s detoxification and waste-removal work. Herbal tea doesn’t scrub an organ clean, undo a weekend or replace proper food.
Think of it as gentle support—not punishment in a mug.
And stronger isn’t always better. “Detox” blends containing stimulant laxatives can mean cramps, diarrhoea and an urgent relationship with the nearest toilet—not toxins dramatically leaving your body. 😬
Choose the herb for the purpose, drink it alongside proper meals and water, and check with a pharmacist or qualified practitioner if you take medication, are pregnant or have liver or kidney problems.
Which herbal tea do you reach for most—peppermint, ginger, chamomile or something else? Tell us below 👇
Save this as your simple tea guide and share it with someone who owns 23 herbal teas but still drinks the same one every evening.

If your comfort food leaves you uncomfortable… we need to rethink the comfort. 😬
We’ve somehow been taught that comfort food has to mean enormous portions, beige food, stretchy trousers and an evening spent horizontal on the sofa.
It really doesn’t.
Comfort food can be:
🥣 A rich, vegetable-packed stew
🌶️ A warming bean chilli
🍛 A fragrant curry full of colour
🥔 A cottage pie topped with proper mash
🍎 Warm cinnamon apples
🥕 A hearty roasted vegetable traybake
The secret is building a meal that comforts and nourishes:
✔️ Plenty of colourful vegetables
✔️ A good source of protein
✔️ Fibre-rich carbohydrates
✔️ Herbs and warming spices
✔️ Enough healthy fat to make it satisfying
✔️ A portion that leaves you content—not comatose
You don’t have to choose between eating salad in October and disappearing into a family-sized pie.
Make the warming food. Add the vegetables. Enjoy every mouthful. Stop when you feel comfortably full.
That’s comfort food doing its actual job. 🩷
What meal feels like a hug in a bowl to you? Tell us below—we’re always looking for dinner inspiration.
Save this for the next cold, dark evening and share it with the friend who enters hibernation after dinner. 😂
You’ve got this. We’ve got you.

Cowboy Caviar—but make it warm, hearty and actually suitable for an Irish autumn. 🤠🍂
This isn’t the cold salsa-style version you politely nibble beside a barbecue.
Ours is packed with roasted:
🍠 Sweet potato
🥕 Carrot and parsnip
🫑 Peppers
🥒 Courgette
🧅 Onion
🌽 Sweetcorn
🫘 Beans
It’s colourful, nourishing and absolutely loaded with fibre—helping to support healthy digestion, steady energy and that properly satisfied feeling after a meal.
The natural sweetness of the roasted roots works brilliantly with warming spices, while the beans add plant protein and turn it into something far more substantial than a side dish.
Eat it:
🥣 Warm from the oven
🥗 Spoon over crunchy leaves
🥑 Top with avocado
🌯 Stuff into wraps
🥔 Pile onto a baked potato
🍳 Serve with eggs
🍚 Add rice for an easy family dinner
It’s one of those recipes that tastes even better the next day—which means tomorrow’s lunch is already sorted. We love that kind of cooking.
Comment COWBOY and we’ll send you the full recipe. 🤠👇

Your breakfast shouldn’t need a project manager. 🍎
You’re getting dressed, finding someone’s missing shoe and answering a message. A complicated breakfast? Absolutely bloody not.
But a warm, cinnamon apple breakfast you can put together in minutes? Now we’re talking.
One autumn breakfast. Five Bodytype twists.
Start with a batch of soft, spiced apples — and we already gave you the recipe last Sunday 😜 A little scroll back now could make your mornings a whole lot tastier.
Then build your bowl using our Breaking Fads Bodytype approach:
🍏 Nikki: Spoon over plain almond yoghurt with chia seeds and chopped walnuts. A simple option without modern grains.
🍏 Kate: Add to porridge made with unsweetened almond milk, then finish with pumpkin seeds. A proper breakfast you can sit down and enjoy.
🍏 Maya: Try the apples over chia pudding made with unsweetened almond milk. An easy breakfast without a starchy grain base.
🍏 Lilly: Go for certified gluten-free oats, almond milk and a generous spoonful of warm apples. All the comfort, without gluten or dairy.
🍏 Jess: Pair with plain almond yoghurt, chia and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Grain-free, gluten-free and dairy-free, keeping her combined Bodytype preferences in mind.
Make the apples once. Give tomorrow-you one less thing to think about. 🙌
Same season. Different bodies. Which one are you? Link in bio for the quiz to find out your Bodytype 🫶

My water bottle gets out more than I do. 💧😂
It comes everywhere with me. Because otherwise, I can get to lunchtime having watered the plants more than myself.
Water helps your body do the everyday essentials: transport nutrients, regulate temperature, support digestion and get rid of waste. And dehydration can leave you feeling tired and headachy. Quite enough of that already, thank you!
It can support healthy weight management too—especially when it replaces sugary drinks. No magic fat-burning promises. Just a useful habit that earns its place.
Colder weather doesn’t mean your body stops needing fluids. 🍂
So have some of yours in a cosy mug. Unsweetened herbal teas count towards hydration—ginger, peppermint or rooibos make a lovely change.
I prefer room-temperature water or a warming cuppa at this time of year. If icy water feels uncomfortable, leave the ice out.
Bottle where you can see it. Sip regularly. Keep it simple.
Are you a bottle-everywhere woman, or a “does my third cuppa count?” woman? Tell us below. 👇
Save this as your autumn reminder to keep drinking. 💚

Your dinner doesn’t need to be cold to count as healthy. 🥶
Somewhere along the way, we gave lettuce a halo and made stew sound like you’d “given in”.
It’s October. You’ve had a long day. You want something warm—not a cucumber with a superiority complex. 😂
A stew packed with vegetables, beans, lentils or your choice of meat can be a proper, nourishing dinner. Comfort food can be good food.
At Breaking Fads, we help you find meals that suit your body and your life. Because eating well should leave you satisfied, not standing at the fridge an hour later wondering where dinner went.
So get the pot out. Eat the bloody stew. No guilt required. 🥣💚. That’s real comfort food!🥘
What’s going in yours? Tell us your favourite stew below—and send this to your friend who thinks healthy eating means eternal salad.
You’ve got this. We’ve got you. 💚

Stop making healthy food feel like a punishment. 🍎
Especially when it could taste like the middle of an apple crumble. 😉
These warm spiced apples are autumn in a saucepan: soft, juicy apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and a little ginger. Simple ingredients.
Very little effort. Excellent smug-kitchen smell.
Make a batch, pop it in the fridge and suddenly breakfast—or that “I fancy something sweet” moment—gets far more interesting.
We’d spoon them over:
🍎 Porridge for a cosy breakfast
🍎 Coconut or almond yoghurt
🍎 Pancakes for a lazy weekend brunch
🍎 Or enjoy them warm with chopped walnuts
Comfort food can be proper food. And proper food can taste fabulous.
Comment APPLE and we’ll send you the recipe.
How would you use yours—porridge, yoghurt, pancakes… or straight from the pan? 👇
You’ve got this! We’ve got you🫶
