Sergeant Heather Glenn was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a subject at Perry County Memorial Hospital at 8885 IN-237 in Tell City at 12:50 am. Sergeant Glenn was investigating a domestic violence incident involving an injured woman who was being treated at the hospital. When the woman notified authorities that the subject was arriving at the hospital, Sergeant Glenn and officers from Tell City Police Department, Perry County Sheriff’s Office, and Cannelton Police Department responded. The subject resisted arrest, and despite using an electronic control weapon, Sergeant Glenn could not subdue the man. The subject pulled out a gun and fatally shot Sergeant Glenn. Other officers returned fire and killed the subject. Sergeant Glenn had served with the Tell City Police Department for 20 years. She is survived by her parents, brother, and nephew. Her father had also served with the Tell City Police Department.

For nearly 20 years, he faithfully served the people of Pennsylvania with courage, professionalism, and unwavering dedication.
On July 1, 2026, while performing an inspection, Trooper Pahira was tragically struck by a vehicle and made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
His commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten.

Just a Routine Shift on US 74: The Tragic Final Moments of Deputy Damian Bost
It was supposed to be a normal morning on US 74, but it ended in a tragedy that has shattered a community. 💔
On June 25, 2026, 30-year-old Deputy Damian Bost of the Columbus County Sheriff's Office was doing exactly what he always did: protecting others. Parked in the median near the Hallsboro Road exit with his emergency lights activated, he was bravely acting as a moving "shield" for an NCDOT roadway paint crew. Tragically, a tractor-trailer failed to reduce speed and struck his patrol car from behind, ending his life and his 8 years of dedicated service.
Deputy Bost wasn't just a badge. He was known on the radio as "R6," but to the kids at South Columbus High School, he was their beloved School Resource Officer. He was the upbeat, kind-hearted officer who always wore the dancing lion mascot costume for the D.A.R.E. anti-drug program.
Most importantly, he was a devoted family man. He loved his family so much that he ran a lawn-care business on the side just so his wife, Jayden, could stay home and raise their two young daughters.
While his family mourns, the driver who caused the crash was arrested and charged with only three misdemeanors, including death by vehicle and reckless driving, and given a $100,000 bond.

Today, we honor the life and sacrifice of Deputy Sheriff Damian Draper Bost, who gave his life in the line of duty on June 25, 2026.
At just 30 years old, Deputy Bost had already dedicated 8 years of service to protecting his community. While working traffic safety at a highway construction zone, with his emergency lights activated to protect workers and motorists, his patrol vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer.
He leaves behind a grieving wife, two children, parents, fellow deputies, and a community forever changed by his sacrifice.
Every day, law enforcement officers stand between danger and the people they serve. Deputy Bost answered that call until his very last breath.

Three recruits officially joined the North Dakota State Patrol on Friday, June 19. Austin Brockling of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Luke Griffith of Chehalis, Washington, and Codie Plotner of Fontana, California successfully completed the North Dakota Law Enforcement Training Academy.
Field training starts Monday, June 22. The recruits will take temporary assignments at posts across the state before the agency announces their permanent locations later this year.
During the ceremony, Governor Kelly Armstrong reminded attendees how law enforcement impacts your daily routine. He noted that safe travel guarantees you and your family arrive home without incident. Superintendent Colonel Daniel Haugen instructed the graduates to maintain the agency values of integrity, commitment, respect, professionalism, loyalty, and accountability. To conclude the event, North Dakota Supreme Court Justice Jon Jensen administered the oath of office and issued the official badges.
