Important Public Safety Appeal for Muharram

As Muharram approaches, we humbly request all those who install banners and flags on electric poles, mobile towers, or other elevated structures to prioritize safety at all times. Kindly ensure that the electricity supply is temporarily switched off through the concerned authorities before carrying out any installation work.

A small precaution can save precious lives and prevent unfortunate accidents.

Your safety is everyone's responsibility.

To
The Hon’ble Minister of Education
Government of Jammu and Kashmir

Subject: Request for Rescheduling of Examinations During the First Fourteen Days of Muharram
Respected Madam/Sir,

With due respect, we would like to submit that, as per the recent directions issued regarding the conduct of secondary school, college, and university examinations during the first fourteen days of Muharram, many students belonging to the Shia community and those devoted to Imam Hussain (AS.) may face serious difficulty in participating in Muharram Majalis, mourning gatherings, and religious processions due to the burden of examinations.
The days of Muharram, particularly the first ten days and extending until the fourteenth, hold immense religious and spiritual significance for the Shia Muslim community. During this sacred period, students actively participate in religious observances connected with the remembrance of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS.) and the tragedy of Karbala…

Conducting examinations during these days may create hardship for students in balancing their academic responsibilities with their deeply rooted religious obligations and sentiments.

Therefore, we humbly request your good office to kindly reconsider and reschedule the examinations after the first fourteen days of Muharram, so that students may peacefully observe their religious duties without academic pressure.

We hope that the administration will sympathetically consider this genuine concern in the interest of religious harmony and student welfare.

Yours Truly,

Shia Community of Jammu and Kashmir.
