Cry of a Forgotten Nation

I was born where hope is rationed,
Where promises are cheaper than bread.
Where the voices that roar before elections
Whisper silence when their bellies are fed.

They said "le tla phela hantle, youth empowerment,"
But now we rot in corners, dreaming of relevance.
No jobs, no platforms, no guiding light
Just idle hands and restless nights.

We have diamonds that never sparkle for us,
Water that flows past thirsty lips.
We own the gold, yet we wear rust,
Foreign flags feast while our pride rips.

They gave us half a loaf and called it grace,
Then filmed themselves handing us slices,
As if dignity could be divided,
As if justice could be priced.

We envy Instagram lives, Parisian skies,
While here, we build dreams from dust.
We dare not speak fear watches close
Truth, in Lesotho, is a dangerous trust.

Your performance in Europe is more than a show, it is a powerful statement that Basotho youth are gifted, resilient, and capable of shining anywhere in the world. We believe without doubt that it could only be God who gave you the strength and grace to carry our nation with such dignity.

We kindly appeal to the executive members of SothoKids and all relevant stakeholders to start preparing for a homecoming celebration and convoy to welcome these young stars in a manner they truly deserve. Let the whole of Lesotho come together to show love, appreciation, and national pride.

Your presence in Europe without formal support from the government is not just a triumph, it is a testament to your resilience, passion, and leadership. We admire and look up to you as a pioneering youth-led initiative that continues to break boundaries for the pride of the nation.

We are aware of the recent criticism and backlash surrounding a spelling error not caused by your team. As fellow youth navigating similar challenges, we stand with you and encourage you to remain focused on the greater mission you represent. Mistakes may arise, but they should never overshadow the impact and legacy you are building.

Lastly, we wish to raise concern over the lack of support from relevant authorities towards such a noble cause. It is disheartening to witness the youth striving to uplift Lesotho globally being unsupported, despite exhausting all avenues for assistance.

Sothokids, keep going. You carry the flag of every young Mosotho with vision and courage.
