FG Names Simon Ekpa, Mamu, 46 Others As Terrorism Financiers.
The Federal Government has officially placed negotiator Tukur Mamu along with 47 other individuals and entities on its sanctions list due to alleged involvement in terrorism financing and related activities.

Among those named is Abdulsamat Ohida, who is described as a senior commander of the Islamic State of West Africa Province in Okene.

In an updated list published on the sanctions committee’s website on Saturday, the government linked him to the June 5, 2022 attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, as well as the July 5, 2022 assault on the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.
Also listed is Mohammed Sani, said to be a member of the Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladissudam (ANSARU), which is a group associated with Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. According to the government, Sani was trained under Muktar Belmokhtar, also known as “One Eyed,” and specialised in “designing clandestine communication codes and improvised explosive devices.”
He was further described as a courier and travel guide for AQIM operatives in Algeria and Mali and was reported to have escaped during the Kuje prison break in July 2022.
Regarding the origins of these cells, the post added that “the group emerged in 2012 as the North-Central wing of Boko Haram and later re-aligned with ISWAP after the death of its leader in 2016.

The group has been linked to attacks around the Federal Capital Territory and the South-West, including the Owo church attack.”

Fatima Ishaq was listed as a financial courier to ISWAP Okene, allegedly responsible for disbursing funds to widows and families of fighters.

The government further accused Mamu of participating in terrorism financing by receiving and delivering ransom payments exceeding $200,000 to ISWAP terrorists for the release of hostages from the Abuja-Kaduna train attack.

Abdurrahman Abdurrahman, another senior ISWAP commander in Okene, was also named.
It specifically said that he “participated in the financing of terrorism by receiving and delivering Ransome payments over the sum of $200,000 US dollars in support of ISWAP terrorists for the release of hostages of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack.”

Yusuf Ghazali was also named for allegedly transferring N20 million in 2015 to Surajo Abubakar Muhammad and N40 million to Ibrahim Ali Alhassan, both identified as convicts.

Authorities said Abubakar Adamu, also known as Yellow, received N189 million from Ghazali between 2016 and 2018 and had financial links with the group’s leader, Alhaji Saidu Ahmed.

Ghazali was further accused of owning entities referenced in a UAE court judgment as facilitating the transfer of terrorist funds from Dubai to Nigeria.

Usama Muhammad was listed as a major contact in Zamfara State, allegedly receiving N57 million from Yawale Muhammad between 2014 and 2017 and maintaining transactions with Surajo Abubakar Muhammad and Saidu Ahmed.

Other individuals on the sanctions list include Abubakar Muhammad, Allamudeen Hassan, Adamu Ishak, Hassana Isah, Abdulkareem Musa, Umar Abdullahi, Abdurrahman Ado, Bashir Yusuf, Ibrahim Alhassan, Muhammad Isah, Salihu Adamu, Surajo Mohammad, Fannami Bukar, Muhammed Musa, Sahabi Ismail, Mohammed Buba, Adamu Hassan, Hassan Mohammed, Usman Abubakar, Kubara Salawu, Rabiu Suleiman, Simon Njoku, Godstime Iyare, Francis Mmaduabuchi, John Onwumere, Chukwuka Eze, Edwin Chukwuedo, Chiwendu Owoh, Ginika Orji, Awo Uchechukwu, Mercy Ali, Ohagwu Juliana, Eze Okpoto, Nwaobi Chimezie and Ogumu Kewe. Entities listed include Jama’atu Wal-Jihad, Ansarul Sudan (ANSARU), Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), Indigenous Biafra (IPOB), Yan Group and Yan Group NLBDG.

Background checks showed that in May 2025, the Nigeria Sanctions Committee had earlier designated 17 individuals and organisations over alleged terrorism financing.

Those previously named included Simon Ekpa, Godstime Promise Iyare, Francis Mmaduabuchi, John Onwumere, Chukwuka Eze, Edwin Chukwuedo, Chinwendu Owoh, Ginika Orji, Awo Uchechukwu and Mercy Ebere Ifeoma Ali, alongside others like Ohagwu Juliana, Eze Okpoto, Nwaobi Chimezie, Ogumu Kewe, Igwe Ka Ala Enterprises, Seficuvi Global Company and Lakurawa Group.

ADC Strategizes Next Move as David Mark Holds Secret Talks with New Party Leaders

Apr 11, 2026

David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), convened a private meeting on Friday with leaders of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

This meeting is part of ongoing political consultations amid the ADC’s ongoing leadership challenges.

The gathering took place away from public scrutiny and featured significant figures from both parties, highlighting increased collaboration among opposition groups during a period of internal discord within the ADC.

Attendees included Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the new National Chairman of the PRP; David Mark; Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC National Publicity Secretary; Muhammed Ishaq, the PRP’s National Publicity Secretary; and Salihu Lukman, the former National Vice Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress.

Baba-Ahmed, who recently took over as PRP chairman, had resigned from his role as Special Adviser on Political Matters to Vice President Kashim Shettima in April 2025, which is interpreted as a strategic return to active political engagement.

Although neither party issued an official statement after the meeting, a top chieftain familiar with the deliberations said the PRP used the opportunity to reaffirm its backing for the ADC leadership in its ongoing dispute with the Independent National Electoral Commission and other state institutions.

“The PRP expressed strong solidarity with the ADC regarding its ongoing dispute with the Independent National Electoral Commission and other government institutions.

“The party unequivocally condemned the assaults and anti-democratic actions being directed at the ADC by certain forces, emphasising that such conduct undermines our democracy and jeopardises the nation’s stability,” the source said.

In response, Mark appreciated the show of support, noting that the PRP had remained the only political party to publicly align with the ADC during the crisis.

“The ADC also expressed hope that the positive relationship between the two parties will remain harmonious, prioritising the collective interests of the nation,” he said.

The meeting comes amid escalating tensions within the ADC, following the emergence of a third faction which recently endorsed the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission to withdraw recognition from the Mark-led leadership.

At a press conference in Abuja, the faction backed INEC’s action, stating that it was in line with a Court of Appeal judgment.

The group also rejected the leadership of Nafiu Bala Gombe, insisting he did not emerge through any credible or known process.

It further accused former National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, of attempting to hand over the party structure to non-members allegedly aligned with Mark.

Comprising some state chairmen, the faction claimed it convened a valid National Executive Committee meeting at Dumebi Kachikwu’s Abuja office, where it took key decisions, including the emergence of a new leadership structure.

Senior lawyers have declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) only needs to formally notify the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) about its planned convention and congresses, and the commission’s absence cannot make the process unlawful or invalid as reported by daily trust.

Reacting to the ongoing crisis, Ebuka Nwaeze Esq explained that the Electoral Act expressly prohibits any court from granting an injunction that restrains a political party’s internal election processes. “No court can stop a party from producing its executive committee or candidates because that would amount to using the court to prevent a party from participating in an election,” he said.

Nwaeze added that once a party issues the required invitation to INEC, whether the commission attends or not has no effect on the validity of the outcome. He noted that only a final Supreme Court interpretation can ultimately determine the fate of any executive produced.

Fellow lawyer Wisdom Elum Esq agreed that INEC misinterpreted the Court of Appeal’s order to “maintain status quo ante bellum,” insisting it simply means the situation as it existed before the matter got to court. He however advised the ADC to carefully weigh the serious political implications of proceeding against INEC’s position.

Mixed Reactions Trail President Tinubu’s Convoy In Bayelsa [VIDEO] A lengthy convoy of cars can be seen moving to the scheduled location. The video drew mixed reactions on social media, with some criticising the size of the convoy and giving a count of the cars. Others argued that the large convoy doesn’t belong to President Tinubu alone, adding that governors, including that of Bayelsa, and other political office holders are in the same convoy. President Tinubu was in Bayelsa to commission projects, including a 60-megawatt gas turbine plant.
