A MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION TO OUR COMMUNITY Health Practioners

The recent recognition of Gombe State as the best-performing state in Primary Healthcare delivery in the North-East by UNICEF is a moment of great pride for all of us. This is contained in the published yesterday 30th August 2026

As the Chairman, Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria (ACHPN), Gombe State Branch, I wish to use this opportunity to sincerely appreciate our members and all frontline health workers who continue to serve our people at the grassroots.

Our Community Health Practitioners are among the most important pillars of Primary Healthcare delivery. Every day, you are in our communities providing health education, preventive services, maternal and child healthcare, immunisation support, disease detection and management, community mobilisation, referrals and many other essential services.

You often work under difficult conditions, yet you continue to answer the call to serve.

This recognition is, in part, a recognition of your sacrifice, commitment and dedication.

To every Community Health Practitioner across the 11 LGAs and 13 LCDAs of Gombe State, I say:

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

Your contribution may sometimes go unnoticed, but the impact of your work is visible in healthier communities and improved health outcomes.

While we celebrate this achievement, let us also see it as a call to do more. There are still gaps to address, particularly in antenatal care, skilled birth attendance, immunisation completion, exclusive breastfeeding, staffing and access to quality healthcare in hard-to-reach communities.

Let us therefore remain committed, professional and united in our determination to take quality healthcare to every household.

Congratulations to Gombe State. Congratulations to our health agencies, development partners and stakeholders. And special appreciation to our dedicated frontline health workers.

You are the real heroes of grassroots healthcare.

Dear Brothers and sisters,

As Community Health Practitioners, one of our important responsibilities is to create awareness, educate our communities, and provide accurate information on health and health-related matters.

In line with this responsibility, we will henceforth be sharing regular health education and awareness content through this platform.

The aim is to promote healthy living, encourage preventive healthcare practices, improve health-seeking behaviour, and help our communities make informed decisions about their health.

Our contents will cover important topics such as communicable and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, nutrition, family planning, tuberculosis, personal hygiene, mental well-being, disease prevention, and other relevant public health issues.

We encourage everyone to participate, learn, share credible information, and help us extend these messages to our families, friends, colleagues, and the wider community.

ACHPN Gombe Congratulates Newly Appointed Commissioner for Health

Gombe, Nigeria | 31 July 2026

The Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria (ACHPN), Gombe State chapter, has extended its warm congratulations to the newly appointed Honourable Commissioner for Health, Professor Danladi Adamu Bojude, following his appointment by the Executive Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON.

The congratulatory message was delivered during a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner by a delegation of the Association led by its State Chairman, Comrade Abdulkarim M. Aliyu.

Speaking on behalf of Community Health Practitioners across the state, Comrade Abdulkarim described Professor Bojude's appointment as well-deserved and a recognition of his distinguished record of service, academic excellence, and commitment to strengthening the healthcare system in Gombe State.

He noted that the Association remains confident that Professor Bojude's leadership will further advance the delivery of quality healthcare services and accelerate the implementation of policies that will improve the health and well-being of the people of Gombe State.

The Chairman also expressed the Association's profound appreciation for Professor Bojude's longstanding support for the Community Health profession. He particularly acknowledged the Commissioner's pivotal role in the establishment of the Community Health Officers Training Programme(CHOTP) at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, as well as his invaluable contributions toward the commencement of the Postgraduate Diploma in Community Health Education (PGDCHE) at Gombe State University. According to him, these milestones have created greater opportunities for professional development and capacity building for Community Health Practitioners within and beyond Gombe State.

Responding, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Professor Danladi Adamu Bojude, expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the Association for the courtesy visit and their goodwill.

Professor Bojude reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Community Health profession and strengthening collaboration to improve primary healthcare services throughout the state. He commended practitioners for their unwavering dedication to disease prevention, health promotion, maternal and child health services, routine immunization, and other essential primary healthcare interventions.

The Commissioner also applauded the critical role being played by the Practitioners in addressing the ongoing diphtheria outbreak affecting some communities in Gombe State. He encouraged them to sustain their efforts in community surveillance, health education, early detection of suspected cases, prompt referral, and public awareness to help contain the spread of the disease.
The visit concluded with prayers for wisdom, good health, and divine guidance for Professor Danladi Adamu Bojude as he begins his tenure as Honourable Commissioner for Health, while both parties expressed optimism for stronger collaboration in promoting a healthier Gombe State.
