I Used To Be The Person We Now Cook For

I had a 9 to 5 job that demanded everything from me.

Field Sales.

Lagos traffic every single morning and every single evening. I had No Car

Just me, the road and energy left.

By the time I got home at night I was always tired.

No strength for cooking, market runs or anything else.

So I ate whatever was fastest. Noodles, bread, pap etc or skip a meal if there's nothing at all.

Weekends were not rest days. They were catch-up days.... Laundry. Cleaning.

And somewhere in between, trying to cook enough food to survive the week.

I was constantly tired. Constantly sick.

Body pains that would not go away.

Waking up exhausted before the day even started.

My body was running empty.

Because there was almost no time for myself.

Then one day I visited my parents.

My dad looked at me and knew immediately something was wrong.

I looked pale.

He asked one question.

"Are you eating?"

I said no.

That evening my mum made a decision.

She started cooking different soups and stews for me every week.

Enough to last me throughout the week.

I would pick it up or send someone to bring it to my house.

Within weeks everything changed.

The tiredness faded.

The body pains stopped.

I stopped falling sick.

I started showing up at work with full energy and my results grew.
All because someone made sure I ate properly.

I wondered How many people in Lagos are living exactly the way I was living?
