I need to talk to you about something I keep seeing in my work.

As a nurse working in health insurance, I look at claims every single day.
And over the last few years, one thing has become impossible to ignore: cancer is showing up more and more and in younger people than ever before.

Not just "older people." Not just "someone else's family."
Men in their 30s, Women in their 40s, Breadwinners, New parents.
People who thought they had time.

Here's what the data says: Nigeria records about 127,000 new cancer cases every year.
Across Africa, that number is expected to rise by 50% by 2050.

This isn't a distant problem, it's already here, and it's growing fast.

But here's the part that breaks my heart the most: over 70% of cancer patients here are diagnosed late stage III or IV.

Not because the disease moved faster, but because we caught it too late.
That's the part we can actually change.

Men, this one is for you too. Prostate, colorectal, and liver cancers are rising. "I'll check it when something feels wrong" is not a health plan.

Women, breast and cervical cancer are still major killers, but both are detectable, and cervical cancer is largely preventable, when we catch it early.

So today, I just want to ask us all to do a few simple things:

βœ… Know your family's health history
βœ… Go for your screenings even when you feel perfectly fine
βœ… Stop treating check-ups as "extra"
βœ… Talk about this with the men in your life too health is not a "women's topic" alone.

Cancer doesn't care about your gender, your age, or how busy your schedule is.
But catching it early changes everything.

When last did you get screened?
Will you include a screening in your plan for this weekend?

Tag someone who needs to see this today.
Let's normalize checking in on our health, together. πŸ™

This June, our hearts carry more than the promise of a new month.

They carry the names and faces of our missing students and teachers still unreached, still unfound, still ours.

We refuse to look away.
We refuse to normalize fear in our schools.
We refuse to let their absence become yesterday's news.

So this month, we do more than hope.
We raise our voices. We demand accountability.
We call on leaders to act with urgency, transparency, and courage.

Bring back our students.
Bring back our teachers.
Reform Nigeria.

Until every child and every educator is safe to learn and teach without terror, our June is INCOMPLETE .
But together in voice, in prayer, in action we can move a nation toward justice.
