Queen Mary Urom, the immediate past Miss Akwa Ibom urges Nigerians to embrace peace and unity as the country marks Democracy Day. Warning that division among political and religious lines will “destroy the beautiful face of our nation.”

In a Democracy Day message on Asuquo Ikpa’s _Mind’s View_ talk show, Urom wished fellow Nigerians well on June 12 and prayed for peace to “rain in Nigeria.” She said many lives have been lost and many families separated in the struggle for the country’s peace.

“We have cried enough,” Urom said.

The beauty queen joined other Nigerians in calling on president Bola Tinubu to secure the safe return of abducted students and teachers from Oyo State. She urged authorities to prioritize the protection of live and property, saying the country is losing it military strength and citizens are losing confidence in government due to failure to defend and protect their lifes and properties.

The talk show host, Asuquo Ikpa commended Urom for her contribution and used the opportunity to urge the government to do better.

Democracy Day is observed on June 12 each year to commemorate Nigeria’s return to civil rule in 1999, and the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.

Roadmap to the Crown movement officially begins.

Queen Mary Urom, the immediate past Miss Akwa Ibom was accompanied to the commissioner's office by tourism consultant Mr. Victor Daniel and former Face of Tourism Akwa Ibom, Miss Uwakmfon-Tyra Michael Ekanem. Their discussion centered on growing pageantry and tourism in Akwa Ibom State and her journey to become Miss universe 2026.

She described Roadmap to the Crown as a special event designed for all Akwa Ibom people. Adding “I believe it is time to make a difference and the journey begins now.”

She also invited Dr. Udofia as Special Guest of Honour for the official unveiling.

Dr. Udofia received the team warmly and pledged full support for the project. The commissioner reaffirmed that Akwa Ibom government has invested and will continue investing in tourism and culture under the ARISE Agenda.

Stakeholders said the partnership will create more opportunities for youths in the creative and tourism sectors.

Insecurity in Nigeria a thing of concern.

Today I join other Nigerians to say no to insecurity in Nigeria.

I am heartbroken and in pain over the current security situation in Nigeria. It is enough for people to say with all boldness that our leaders have not done enough in protecting the lives of citizens and properties.

Imagine kidnapping being the order of the day and politicians don’t do the least like openly condemning it.

Today I call on the government of Oyo State led by Governor Seyi Makinde and President Bola Tinubu, alongside Nigerian military to help tackle insecurity and bring back the abducted victims.

Government need to step up their game and discharge their primary duty which is to protect life and property.

At the same time, I want to use this opportunity to extend my deepest sympathy to the families of the adopted students and teachers. I pray for guardian and comfort upon the victims and their families.
