There is always light at the end of the tunnel.
For the feature Mr.k (now in cinemas) we were asked to build a few things including a 14 meter long fleshy tunnel.
So we did just that. As always it takes an army to make anything and this tunnel was no exception. Very big thanks to my crew who probably still have styrofoam beads coming out of orifices for years to come.

Last year marked my 30 years anniversary of making rubber monsters for a living. Special make-up effects and creature design is the more posh way of saying what I love to do. But I prefer the term 'making rubber monsters', because that's really all it is, combined with a bit of movie magic. What started out as a hobby at the age of 8, turned into a job while still at filmschool. Coming from the prehistoric age that predates smartphones, laptops and the internet, information was hard to get, so you had to figure it all out on your own. Which was the best school anyone could go to. Your own basement at your parents house, just making stuff and making A LOT of mistakes. But being determined to make it work. That's what I try and teach my students to not ask me how I do something, but why I do it that way.
I'm a firm believer that everyone you work with brings something new to the table. Be that a seasoned veteran or a new intern. It's the biggest cliché, but you never stop learning. So thank you all from whom I have learned and to get me to where I am today. Here's to the next 30 years in this crazy industry called movie making!
